Navigate Morytha and the World Tree in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. This guide covers battles against Guldos, Infernal Guldo, and reaching the World Tree's summit.
You begin Chapter 8 alone, but Pyra and Mythra return, and Rex gains the Master Driver ability, allowing him to use any Blade. You'll start in Morytha, the world beneath the Cloud Sea. Head down the slope and into a tunnel. You can choose a name for Pyra and Mythra's powered-up form, which only affects battle menus and cutscenes; for simplicity, this guide will refer to her as Pyra. Continue through the passage and down the road.
You'll encounter Jin being attacked and enter a battle. You can choose to control Jin. After the battle, Poppi and Brighid join you, with Brighid automatically engaged to Rex. Rex becomes the designated healer, so consider equipping healing Blades to him for upcoming fights. Proceed down the street and up the rubble into a toppled building. Climb the exterior, turn the corner, and enter. Inside, you can find a technical manual for Poppi, but it requires a detour. In a dark room at the back, a doorway leads forward. Turn right, and head forward. Climb the mesh on the far wall to reach the outside. Continue climbing the building's exterior to enter a higher level. Exit the other side and follow the balcony to the highway. Turn right and follow the highway until you reach a large pile of rubble. Behind it is a doorway leading to a bridge. At the bridge's end, find a chest containing 'Robolab Club Quarterly' with Role CPU, Dark Core, Arts Cards, Specials Enhancing RAM, and Skill RAM. Return to the lower room in the Fallen Skyscraper.
From the room, exit through a doorway to the outside. Head down and to the right, then forward to trigger the next scene. You can choose to climb the destroyed freeway or the building at the street's end; both lead to the same area. If you choose the building, climb the stairs to the top, avoiding a Unique Monster. If you choose the freeway, climb the rubble and follow the collapsed catwalk. Head down the intact street and into the tunnel on your left. Inside, you'll face 8 Darkblood Guldos (levels 50-52). Jin will draw aggro, but he can withstand damage. Keep yourself healed. Activating Pyra's ascended state can make this fight easier by filling the party gauge and maxing Pyra or Mythra's affinity, then holding R and pressing X.
At the tunnel's end, cross bridges to the fallen Titan, Torna. Head straight and climb the winding slope on your right to reach a bridge. On your left, climb a ledge to the top. Follow this ledge left, jumping across spikes to a ledge with a broken ramp. Go through the doorway and follow the corridor into a large chamber. You'll fight Infernal Guldo, and the tutorial will enable Pyra's ascended form. Once Infernal Guldo's HP drops below 20%, the rest of your party joins, replacing Jin, allowing Blade Combos and Chain Attacks. At around 50% HP, Infernal Guldo summons three Kendra Guldos; defeat them quickly. After this, you can pursue Poppi QTπ, her final form, by referring to Rare Blade #6's page.
Proceed across the roots into the World Tree. Inside the trunk, take the elevator up. Head down the hall and around to the other side. Ride another elevator up and exit. Cross the bridge and take the elevator on the other side. At the top, go up the stairs and turn right into a room with robots. Climb the stairs around the room to a balcony overlooking the World Tree interior. Head right and exit through the doorway to your left. Go up the stairs and into the next structure. Turn right and go up the ramp. Enter the room on your left halfway down the corridor and interact with the Control Panel to lower the water level in the adjacent room. Jump into the drained pool and climb the ladder inside the cylindrical structure. Take the elevator to the top.
WARNING: Approaching the story marker here will lock you out of Indol for the rest of the game, making all quests, treasure troves, and certain character interactions unavailable. However, a 'good deed' for Perun's Affinity Chart does work retrospectively.
