Walkthrough for Chapter 3: Our Own War in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Includes objectives, enemy strategies, item locations, and how to progress through Gormott and Uraya.
You'll start the new chapter at the Traveler's Resting Tree about the center of the Upper Right level of Gormott. Your aim is to cross the spine to the Upper Left side of Gormott. If you look up toward the north, you'll see a tree, and beside the tree a small hill. Climb up there, and you should see a stone bridge. You should head under it to start. You'll have to cross a hoard of Nose Gogols, so you can either run past them or try to fight a couple. They vary in range from levels 11 to 16, so be careful. From there, you will want to head up past the waterfalls, and you will reach a location called Greatspine Boundary. As soon as you cross this area, you will be on the left half! Hooray! You only need to be aware of the aggro from Roghuls, Quadwings, Tirkins, and a couple of Drivers. Just follow the valley, and you should reach the shipyard safely. Now, just head inside.
Umon's Ship Quest:
- Objective 1: Get your hands on some Puzzletree Wood in Gormott Province.
- Objective 2: Head to Dawnview Grotto in Gormott Province and get your hands on some Diamond Oak.
- Objective 3: Report back to Umon at Umon's Shipyard in Gormott Province.
- Objective 4: Return to Torigoth in Gormott and rest at Coedwig Inn until the tide is high.
- Objective 5: Head to the Marash Spring area in Gormott Province at high tide and bring back the wayward Titan.
- Objective 6: Report back to Umon at Umon's Shipyard in Gormott Province.
The Puzzletree Wood is not too hard to come by, just search in collection areas that give out wood. Dawnview Grotto is a secret area in upper right Gormott. To get there, head to the Waytree (a location due north of Lascham Island) and then head north. You should see some large roots ahead, with some lamps on them. Climb these upward until you reach an outcropping. Head right up the hill here, and mind the angry Tirkins, they are quite aggravating. At the top of the hill, climb the vines and you'll reach a balcony. Turn left around the hut and head up through the cave and you'll reach Dawnview Grotto! Collect the five Diamond Oak, and then head back to meet with Umon at his shipyard.
The titan escaped! Now you need to go find it! The tide must be high, so if it's not, go rest at the inn in Torigoth and stay for a while. The quickest way to get to your destination is to head to where you first entered the upper level of Gormott, the Outlook Knoll. From here, you'll wanna head back in the direction to the lower levels of Gormott. You should see the Titan below. Head over and say hello! Head back to Umon's Shipyard and speak with him. Quest all finished! When you're ready to head out, speak with Umon once more.
After quite the eventful journey... Welcome to Uraya! You have just been swallowed by the Titan, and you are currently in its mouth. Before you start heading deeper inside, turn to your right, and you'll find a chest containing a key item called "Nimble Nopon Get Girls". This is a parts manual for Poppi, strange as it sounds... There are four more hidden throughout the world. These manuals unlock the ability to purchase more parts for Poppiswap. This one in particular unlocks a few more Arts Cards, Specials Enhancing RAM, and Skill RAM. Now that all that's taken care of, time to head on deeper into Uraya.
As you head forward, you are going to want to keep to the high ground, seeing as the lower areas have more dangerous enemies. You'll still need to be careful of the Lizards, Vangs, and Lysaats, they really don't like intruders. Keep on moving forward across the bridges and you'll reach a clearing. And an ambush. To survive this, you're going to want to change targets and focus on Yew and Zuo. Yew is really squishy, and really easy to take out. Zuo will use an art that will inflict taunt, a status that draws all aggro toward him. He's also fairly squishy, but a little bulkier. Vandham is quite bulky, and constantly uses arts that evade, well, everything! Very annoying, especially if you are taking chip damage from his companions... So definitely take them out first. It is much, much easier to take Vandham out when you only need to heal off his attacks. Once that's all taken care of, head off into Garfont Village. Head forward and turn right before you fall off the cliff. Walk up the incline to the top of the bridge, then turn left and go through the cave. Welcome to Garfont!
When you head into town, you'll notice a crowd of people to the right, and to the left you should see a chest. Open it to find your second Overdrive Protocol. Now, feel free to explore the village if you wish. When you're ready, head to that small crowd from before, and speak with Guldon. Now just to meet Vandham at the back gate, just head up the hill and speak with him. Now you can take him along with you! Use him if you'd like. You can control him if you wish, or leave him to the AI. You can also stick to your regular trio if you're more comfortable with them. Completely up to you! Now it's time to head on out.
As you go on, be careful of a large plant monster (it may be buried in the ground and just look like a huge flower) they can be unexpectedly powerful enemies. Head up the hill and out onto the cliffside. Up ahead, you will see a very large obstacle in your way, but if you approach it, you will learn how to deal with it. Once that's finished, follow the path around, and into the cavern. At the back of the cavern, you will want to climb up the rise. Along the way, there are a lot of Volff, and as they get low on health, they like to call for help. A lot. If you want to take them out, you'll want to lure them away so that if they do call for assistance, the others may be out of range, or at least only one will come, rather than five. At the top of the hill, you will finally learn how to topple the enemy. Very helpful. Much useful.
From here, just head around the pile of rock, and you will find yourself at a lake. Be careful around the Rhinons. They like to attack you, but they are kinda bulky and can tak
