Learn about tournament structures, local arcade tournaments with unique rules, and how to receive and accept tournament invitations in Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown's Quest Mode.

Tournaments in Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown's Quest Mode are structured in brackets, with the number of participants determining the number of matches. For example, an eight-participant tournament requires three wins. The Virtua Fighter World Tournament Finals is a special event that grants an invitation after some play and signifies winning Quest Mode. Participating in tournaments can also help you find players who might be less active in regular arcade play.

Local arcade tournaments offer prizes like gold, rare items, or emblems, and often feature unique rules. Pay close attention to the timer and round settings at the start of each match, as they can vary significantly (e.g., 5 rounds at 15 seconds each, or 1 round at 90 seconds). These rules remain consistent throughout the tournament.

You'll receive a tournament invitation after winning a match during normal play. You can choose to accept, which sends you to the tournament location, or decline, continuing normal play until another invitation appears.

The Ins and Outs of Quest Mode Menus

Home

The Home menu on the map screen tracks accomplishments, manages options, and displays your overall progress.

Customize

The Customize menu allows you to alter your character's appearance and Ring Name attributes. It can also be accessed from the Main Menu.

Costume Settings

Within Costume Settings, you have two options:

  • Item edit: Change the appearance of any unlocked costume set using items you've acquired. Select Type A through D, choose items, and save.
  • Main/Sub costume settings: Select your primary costume (Main) and a backup (Sub). The Main costume is the default, typically Type A. The Sub costume, usually Type B, becomes active if your opponent uses the same Main costume Type or if you change it on the fly at the character select screen. Visual aids for unlocked costume Types are available at the bottom of the screen.
Item Shop

This is a primary location for purchasing clothing items, accounting for at least 50% of unlockable gear. Purchases here contribute to your overall item unlock percentage. You can also buy Orb Discs here. Save money earned in Quest Mode to purchase items for your Costume Settings.

Change Ring Name

Use this to set your in-game tag name, which also serves as your character's name and associated stats within Quest Mode.

Personal Comment Settings

This is the message displayed at the bottom of the screen before a versus match, and is frequently seen in Quest Mode during loading screens.
