    Hop back down into the water and go straight past the waterwheel.

    Climb the ledge at the other side.

    Open the metal door at the top with the R2 button and the motion controls. If you have not picked up the Scrawled Journal previously, you will receive a Butterfly Effect Update: IMPORTANT DISCOVERY (Sam failed to discover a vital record).

    A cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (an in-game cinematic event) plays where The Stranger's head rolls out. If any teens are dead, their heads will also appear. Mike will comment if Jessica is present.

Location: When controlling Josh and following Mike out of the mines, take a left in the initial cavern. The TOTEM is on the floor.

Vision: A wendigo approaches Sam in the lodge, but Mike is seen near the exit in the background.

Walkthrough (Continued):

  1. Follow Mike out of the cavern.
  2. At the water, drop down the ledge and wade across.
  3. A cutscene plays halfway through the water, its content depending on whether you found the Scrawled Journal.

Butterfly Effect Updates (Post-Cutscene):

  • If you found the Scrawled Journal: Josh recognised Hannah... and Hannah recognised Josh.
  • If you did NOT find the Scrawled Journal: Josh recognised Hannah too late and was killed. The Wendigo (revealed to be Hannah) crushes Josh's skull after he notices her tattoo.

The game then transitions to Matt or Jessica's section (06:24), depending on who is alive. If neither survived, skip to Sam's next section.

Butterfly Effect Updates (Matt/Jessica):

  • If Jessica is alive: Jessica was still alive!
  • If Matt is alive and Jessica is not: Matt was all alone in the mine.
  • If Matt found Jessica: Matt found Jessica!
  • If Matt was alone: Matt was all alone in the mine.

Matt/Jessica finds a lamp. Press R2 to pick up a lighter and swipe the touchpad to light it.

IF BOTH MATT AND JESSICA ARE ALIVE:

Jessica approaches Matt, not recognizing him, and attempts to attack. Press TRIANGLE to avoid her attack. Failing the QTE (Quick Time Event) results in Matt getting a gash on his cheek.

  • INFORM (Not alone up here): Matt's HONESTY metre goes UP, Matt's CHARITABLE metre goes UP, all other traits except curious decrease slightly.
