Unreal Tournament 2004 AVRiL and Lightning Gun tactics. Learn how to defeat Raptors, Hellbenders, Goliaths, and Leviathans.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Vs Raptor: Raptors require two hits to defeat and can quickly hide. Avoid fighting them on foot if they are close, as they can destroy your missiles. Fight in open ground or from a higher position to limit their hiding spots. If a Raptor hides, guess its next location, fire a missile high, and lock on when it appears. The best approach is to surprise them by attacking when they are focused on your node or teammates.
  2. 2
Vs Hellbender: This is not recommended as it takes three lucky missile hits. If fully manned, the gunners pose a significant threat. Hide and wait for it to pass, then fire from afar. If it stops, it will snipe you; hide and wait. If it attempts to locate you, switch to the Flak Cannon or Rocket Launcher and target the driver. The Hellbender has poor maneuverability up close.
  3. 3
Vs Goliath: This is a major threat. Do not attack unless you have a good hiding spot. Never charge a tank and fire missiles, as it will likely kill you and destroy the missile. Hide and wait for it to pass, then fire. If the turret turns to face you, hide. If it's still facing you on your next attempt, wait for the driver to lose interest or find a new hiding spot. Use the "no warning" tactic to reduce the tank's reaction time.
  4. 4
Vs Leviathan: Similar to the Goliath but requires a longer engagement. Leviathans create an aura of chaos, aiding stealth. Their large size means you only need to aim generally. If it uses the Ion Cannon, ensure you cannot see ground zero to remain safe. If you can fire uninterrupted, fire a missile and switch weapons while the AVRiL reloads.
  5. 5
Vs Turret: Hide out of sight. Fire a missile into the open, pop out, lock on briefly, and hide again. Turrets are stationary.
  6. 6
AVRiL vs. Nodes and Power Core: The AVRiL fires too slowly to be effective against Nodes and the Power Core, though you can try switching weapons while it reloads. Be aware of the AVRiL's recoil, which can push you off ledges.
  7. 7
Lightning Gun Introduction: This weapon functions as a makeshift sniper rifle with a 10x scope. It has more power than the Classic Sniper Rifle but is easier to track. Its secondary fire mode is the scope.
  8. 8
Lightning Gun Primary Fire: Fires a blue bolt of lightning with pinpoint accuracy. It can score a headshot (a shot that lands on the enemy's head, usually an instant kill) for double damage. Targets hit will be covered in blue lightning for a second.
  9. 9
Lightning Gun Secondary Fire: Operates the scope zoom. Hold to zoom gradually, release to set zoom level. Press again to zoom out. Hold again to re-zoom. Movement, jumping, or falling do not affect the scope.
  10. 10
Lightning Gun Tactics: Treat it as a sniper rifle. Do not use it in close quarters combat while dodging and jumping, as it is a medium-to-long range weapon. You can hit an enemy and switch to another weapon. It deals impressive damage and hits instantly. It is not ideal for Deathmatch (DM) as weapons like the Flak Cannon and Rocket Launcher are more effective.

Tips:

  • When fighting Raptors, try to get a surprise attack by hiding until they target your node or teammates.
  • For Hellbenders, if it tries to find you, switch to the Flak Cannon or Rocket Launcher and aim for the driver.
  • Against Goliaths and Leviathans, use the
