Kaer Morhen (Tutorial)

You'll start off in a bed chamber within the iconic Kaer Morhen. Your first task is simple: find the key to get out. The game will prompt you to use your Witcher Sense. Activate it, and you'll see important items glow red and lootable objects glow orange. Take a look around the room – you can inspect the Clothes on the bed, a Box of silver jewellery on a bookshelf, a Pitcher of juice on a small table, and a Perfume bottle on another bookshelf near the door. The Key you need is sitting on the table right by the door. Grab it and unlock the door.

Head downstairs. You'll have a couple of conversations, and during the second one, you'll get an option to “Run the Walls”. This kicks off a short movement tutorial. If you choose to do it, you'll need to climb a ladder, then practice climbing up a series of ledges. After that, you'll traverse platforms and ledges to get down to the courtyard.

Watch your step here! When you're making your way down, be sure to cross the gap using the wooden platform on the left. Don't go jumping off the ledges – you don't want to mess up your very first tutorial!

Once you reach the ground level, race to the objective marker. Another scene will play out. Afterwards, you'll be presented with a choice: go through the basic combat and magic tutorial, or skip straight to free practice. For your first playthrough, I really recommend going through the basics. It's the best way to get a feel for the game's melee combat and magic systems before you're thrown into the real action.

After you've completed the training, a final scene will play, marking the end of the tutorial section.
