Explore Grim Garten, a mini-game in The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon, unlocked during Chapter 1, Part 2 (7/9 Afternoon). Learn about domains, maps, and resets.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Ouroboros took over Marchen Garten and made it into Grim Garten. Altina, representing Epstein Foundation, will come to you with a request to explore and clear the 'game'.
  2. 2
Clear Domains as they become available for events that coincide with the main story.
  3. 3
After the Intermission, the remaining Domains become optional instead of mandatory. You can choose to do them at any point in the current playthrough, but some events might be different or entirely missing depending on how far you are in the main story.
  4. 4
Grim Garten does not exist outside of the main game; you cannot continue to access it after completing the main story.
Tips
  • Certain things reset on New Game+: All Domains (back to First), including the Clear Rank (back to No Rank); All Shop Lists, except Trade; Reminiscence Pedestal (options reset to initial/boxes not checked for completion); Challenge Battle (options reset to first battle, box not checked for completion); Grimoire Decryption (back to basic Reward Catalog).
  • Anything related to Onyx Steel is still available (trade for OS, OS weapons, upgrading equipment with OS).
  • During the Intermission, Thermae Discount and Shop Discount carry over.
  • Domains take the form of a grid map that is randomized every time you enter.
  • You can only move one square forward at a time (left, center, or right).
  • At the end of each Domain is a Floor Boss. Each Floor Boss map has a charging station to recover HP & EP.
  • To clear a Domain, you must defeat the Floor Boss. This will give you an initial Clear Rank (usually B or A), and a fast-warp to the Floor Boss right next to the domain entrance.
  • Each Domain has different Clear Conditions (use R3 on overall map, or on the grid maps). Conditions marked with an 'O' are considered submitted, and conditions marked with a 'V' are considered completed but not submitted. You can only check the Clear Conditions after clearing the Domain the first time.
  • You can exit and re-enter (reset) the Domain map as many times as you want to complete the conditions; the counters will increase and be marked as complete even if you reset the floor.
  • Get Rank S by completing all three Domain Conditions and defeating the floor boss to submit the conditions. Some Achievement rewards for getting Clear Rank S in some Domains are really good and are connected to completing other Achievements.

Icon Legend:

  • Stage Mission: Each Stage Mission has Clear Conditions (1 required, 2 optional).
  • Treasure Chests: Among them is a silver chest with a monster face, referred to as Monster Chests. Monster Chests are a separate Rank Condition from opening regular chests.
  • Buffs: These buffs last for the entire time you're in the Domain, as long as you don't exit.
  • Mira: In-game currency.
  • G-Tokens: In-game currency.
  • Pom Battle: Poms on the Domain Maps differ by color. Each color drops the corresponding sepith and some Sepith Mass after winning (i.e. Blue Poms drop Water Sepith, Red Poms drop Fire Sepith).
  • Mystery: There's a 25% chance of it being a trap that reduces everyone's HP to 1.
