The Setup: While the second service in the restaurant car is announced, Ms. Wolff and Herr Schmidt, who've clearly had a bit too much wine, are heading into the parlor. This is your cue to pay attention to their movements.

Prince Kronos's Plan: Around 1:04 PM, Prince Kronos will show up with Kahina to invite Ms. Wolff to a musical duet. Now, if you overheard Kronos talking to Kahina earlier, you'll know this isn't just about music. It's a setup to get Ms. Wolff out of her room so Kahina can search it for the Firebird. Meanwhile, Max is still posted up, guarding compartment F.

Eavesdropping Opportunities: If you decide to hang around in the lounge, you can catch Tatiana and Alexei having a politically charged chess match. You'll also see Ms. Wolff, Mr. Abbot, and eventually Herr Schmidt leaving the lounge in succession. If you happen to bump into Herr Schmidt in the hallway, he's got a bad feeling about the deal and plans to bail at Vienna unless he gets proof of the gold. The trainmaster will then be tasked with moving the dog. This whole sequence is designed to clear out compartment F, getting both Ms. Wolff and Max out of the way for the concert.

Invitations and Opportunities: In the hallway, a lot is happening. The trainmaster is relaying invitations from Kronos to various travelers. Conductor Mertens will personally invite you, even if you haven't spoken to Kronos directly, after the trainmaster gives him the instruction. You can also slip into compartment E when no one's looking. The diary is still there, but it hasn't been updated since this morning. If you're quick, you can climb out the window and catch Ms. Wolff changing. Later, you'll find her relaxing before the concert.
