Complete Seyda Neen quests in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, including Death of a Taxman and Fargoth's Ring. Find Processus Vitellius' body and confront his killer.
Walkthrough
- 1Speak to NPCs in Seyda Neen about rumors to learn that tax collector Processus Vitellius is missing.
- 2Head north out of town, turn left at the signposts towards Balmora, and follow the path.
- 3Just past a small bridge, the road turns left; follow it, then continue straight west.
- 4When you pass the swamp on your left, turn left, heading directly south.
- 5You will find the dead body of Processus Vitellius.
- 6Examine the corpse to update your journal.
- 7Take the tax collector's outfit, the tax record, and 200 gold from the body. You cannot dispose of the corpse.
- 8Return to Seyda Neen and report your findings to Socucius Ergalla.
- 9Tell Socucius Ergalla you found 200 septims on the body. He will take the gold.
- 10Socucius Ergalla wants the killer punished and offers a reward of 500 septims if you bring them to justice.
- 11To find a clue, ask about the murder in town, which leads to Thavere Vedrano in the lighthouse.
- 12Ask Thavere Vedrano about the murder; she will mention seeing Foryn Gilnith argue with Processus Vitellius about taxes.
- 13Thavere Vedrano asks you to return Processus Vitellius' ring if you find it.
- 14Foryn Gilnith owns a shack near Fargoth's swamp.
- 15Question Foryn Gilnith, who will admit to the murder.
- 16You can either agree to keep his secret or punish him. To get the reward, you must punish him.
- 17You will have to fight Foryn Gilnith. If you are a mage, consider using Summon Bound Dagger before the fight.
- 18After defeating Foryn Gilnith, loot his corpse for another common outfit, 5 gold, and Processus Vitellius' ring.
- 19Loot Foryn Gilnith's shack for any items and sell them to Arrille.
- 20Return to Socucius Ergalla and report that you brought the killer to justice to collect your 500 septims.
- 21Optionally, return the ring to Thavere Vedrano for two Standard Restore Health potions. The ring is worth 240 gold.
- 22To start Fargoth's Hiding Place quest, go upstairs in Arrille's Tradehouse and speak with Hrisskar Flat-Foot.
- 23Hrisskar Flat-Foot asks you to recover gold Fargoth owes him, which is stashed in a hiding place.
- 24Go to the top of the lighthouse for a vantage point over Seyda Neen.
- 25Look over the swamplands near the back of Arrille's Tradehouse and wait until nightfall (press T and wait until 8 or 9 PM).
- 26Watch for Fargoth, who will appear carrying a torch and wade into the swamp to a tree stump.
- 27Examine the tree stump Fargoth used.
- 28Inside the stump, you will find the Engraved Ring of Healing, a Journeyman's Lockpick, and 300 gold.
- 29Return to Hrisskar Flat-Foot and tell him you found the hiding place.
- 30Hrisskar Flat-Foot will take the 300 gold and give you 100 gold in return. You can keep the Engraved Ring of Healing and the lockpick.
- 31To start Fargoth's Ring quest, speak with Fargoth as soon as you leave the Census and Excise House.
- 32Fargoth will ask if you have seen his missing ring. If you found it in the barrel during the tax collector investigation, tell him the truth and give it back.
- 33Arrille, the owner of the tradehouse, will be pleased if you return the ring to Fargoth.
- 34To start Vodunius Nuccius quest, find Vodunius Nuccius wandering the main street.
- 35Ask Vodunius Nuccius for advice; he will mention the silt strider to Vivec or Balmora.
- 36Go to the silt strider port (north of town, then right at the signs) and speak with Darvame Hleran, telling her Vodunius Nuccius sent you.
- 37Ask Darvame Hleran about Vodunius Nuccius; she will say he is unhappy in Morrowind.
- 38Return to Vodunius Nuccius and ask about himself. He is unhappy and needs 100 septims to leave for Narsis.
- 39Buy the ring from Vodunius Nuccius for 100 septims to complete the quest properly. He will then leave.
Tips
- If you are a mage character and find the fight with Foryn Gilnith difficult, use the Summon Bound Dagger spell before initiating combat.
- The Engraved Ring of Healing is valuable and can be kept even after returning the 300 gold to Hrisskar.
- Returning Fargoth's ring to him does not yield a significant reward, but Arrille will be pleased.
- Vodunius Nuccius offers to sell you his ring for 100 septims; purchasing it completes his quest.

- Fargoth's Hiding Place: 100 septims (net loss from 300 found), Engraved Ring of Healing, Journeyman's Lockpick.
- Fargoth's Ring: Arrille's favor.
