Artifacts in Summoners War offer a significant layer of customization and power, allowing you to fine-tune your monsters' stats beyond what runes alone can provide. They are obtained from specific dungeons, most notably the Ancient Ruins. The primary goal when farming artifacts is to acquire those with beneficial main stats and desirable substats that synergize with your monster's role and existing rune build.

Artifacts come in three types: Power, Skill, and Resistance. Power artifacts primarily boost offensive stats like Attack Power, Critical Damage, and Critical Rate. Skill artifacts can enhance damage based on enemy stats, reduce skill cooldowns, or increase the effectiveness of debuffs. Resistance artifacts focus on defensive stats such as HP, Defense, and Resistance, or provide utility like increasing the chance to resist debuffs.

When farming, consider the elemental affinity of the artifact. For example, a Fire artifact might have a main stat that boosts Attack Power, while a Water artifact might boost HP. The substats are equally, if not more, important. Look for substats that directly benefit your monster. For a damage dealer, you'll want Critical Damage%, Attack%, and potentially flat Attack. For a tank, HP%, Defense%, and Resistance are key. For support units, Speed, HP%, and Accuracy can be invaluable. Don't neglect the "effect" substats on Skill and Resistance artifacts, which can provide unique advantages.

Optimization involves not just acquiring good artifacts, but also upgrading them. Use the artifact enhancement system to level up your chosen artifacts, increasing the potency of their main stats and substats. It's often a good idea to have a few "universal" artifacts that can be swapped between similar monsters, but for your most important units, invest the time and resources into finding and upgrading the perfect artifact set. Regularly revisit artifact farming as new dungeons and mechanics are introduced, and as your monster roster grows.
