Hey there! So you're diving into Sonic Frontiers and want to really up your combat game? Awesome! Let's talk about the Skills system. It's how you'll unlock a bunch of cool new moves and abilities to help you take down those tricky enemies and massive Guardians. How Skills Work Think of Skills as your new toolbox for fighting. You'll find them organized in something called the Skill Tree in the game's menu. To unlock these bad boys, you'll need to collect Skill Pieces. You get these by exploring the Open Zone, beating up baddies, or smashing open containers. Each Skill Piece is worth 20 points towards your Skill Point gauge, which you'll see on the bottom right of your HUD. Once you've racked up enough Skill Points, you'll see a little flashing '!' on the gauge. That's your cue to head into the Pause menu (just hit +/ OPTIONS/![Xbox-One-Menu-Button]()) and go to the Skills section. You'll see the Skill Tree there, with new Skills marked by '!' icons. Each Skill has a different point cost, so pick the one you want, hit ![Switch a]()/![Cross]()/![A button](), and boom – new move unlocked! Skills You Get for Free (Sort Of!) There are also a few special Skills that don't need Skill Points. Instead, you unlock them by rescuing Sonic's friends scattered across the Starfall Islands. For instance, saving Amy Rose from a Cyber Cage on Kronos Island will instantly give you the Grand Slam skill. Pretty neat, right? Where and How to Use Your Skills Remember, these awesome Skills are mainly for use in the Open Zone areas of the Starfall Islands. They won't work in the Cyber Space stages. You can practice any Skill you've unlocked in the training simulator, which you can access from the main menu or sometimes when the game is loading. Against regular enemies, your trusty combo attacks and basic moves will still work, but Skills add a whole new layer of offense. For the big Guardians, you'll need to learn their attack patterns and find their weak spots. Sometimes a basic move is best, other times a specific Skill will make all the difference. As you get further into the game, enemies and Guardians will get tougher, so you'll definitely want to rely on your growing Skill set to keep up. Some Skills aren't just direct attacks; they can boost your existing moves, like the Phantom Rush, or help you out of a tight spot with things like Recovery Smash, which lets you counter attacks right before you hit the ground. Keep an eye out for these! The more Skills you unlock and master, the more effective you'll be in combat. Happy fighting!
