Discover the distinct gameplay modes in SimCity 4: God mode for terraforming, Mayor mode for city building and management, and My Sim mode for personalized feedback.

SimCity 4 introduces several distinct modes to enhance the city-building experience. Each mode serves a specific purpose in the creation and management of your virtual metropolis.

Modes:

1. God mode: Offers advanced terraforming tools, allowing players to modify terrain with near-complete freedom. Players can also use brushes for trees and wild animals, and perform operations like erosion that affect the entire tile. This mode is generally unavailable after a city is established, unless cheats are used.
2. Mayor mode: This is the primary mode for gameplay. Players focus on constructing a city, managing the budget, and placing zones, roads, and ploppable buildings. Special requirements can be fulfilled to unlock reward buildings. Civic buildings in this mode affect only a nearby area, and players can adjust their individual funding and maintenance costs.
3. My Sim mode: Allows players to create or import a Sim from The Sims and place them into their city to receive feedback. If the Rush Hour expansion is installed, players can also access the U-Drive-It Mode from here.
