How to Get the What a Technique! Trophy/Achievement in Sea of Stars

Learn how to unlock the 'What a Technique!' trophy in Sea of Stars by activating the Artful Gambit Relic and defeating bosses. Discover the easiest methods.

To unlock the "What a Technique!" trophy/achievement in Sea of Stars, you need to defeat ten bosses while the Artful Gambit Relic is activated. This Relic significantly reduces your maximum HP by 95% and prevents enemies from taking damage while they are casting (when Locks are on screen). However, it also doubles timed hit damage and reduces timed block damage to a single point.

You do not need to have the Artful Gambit Relic activated at all times; it only needs to be active during boss fights. You can also use other Relics simultaneously to help mitigate the challenges, such as those that reduce damage taken.

How to Unlock the "What a Technique!" Trophy/Achievement

The Artful Gambit Relic is found in a chest before the Gun Goddess boss, located in the Cerulean Expanse. You can access this area late in the game, typically when the final dungeon becomes available. Speak to Serai at a camp after the final dungeon is accessible to initiate the endgame side quest that leads to the Joce’s Belt Buckle Artifact. Use clues from Teaks to navigate the Cerulean Expanse to reach the Gun Goddess's area. The chest containing the Relic is located before the boss fight.

Hardest Method

Attempting this trophy towards the end of the game is the most difficult approach. After obtaining the Artful Gambit Relic, you can face the endgame bosses with it equipped. However, with drastically reduced HP, most enemy attacks will likely result in a party KO, requiring highly skilled timed blocking.

Easier Method

The easiest way to achieve this is by starting a New Game+. This allows you to carry over your equipment and levels from a completed save file. Equip the Artful Gambit Relic just before each boss encounter. The trophy/achievement will unlock after defeating the Leaf Monster boss in the Autumn Hills area.

Longest Method

This method also utilizes New Game+. Instead of playing through the entire story again, focus on defeating the first few bosses. For instance, you can defeat the Bosslug and Elder Mist bosses a total of five times. The game tracks bosses defeated with the Artful Gambit Relic activated across New Game+ files, allowing the trophy/achievement to unlock through repeated boss encounters.
