The Armor Forging Station is a critical hub for enhancing your survivability in Project Windless. Located in the main settlement of Oakhaven, this station allows you to craft and upgrade your protective gear, turning basic materials into formidable defenses. To begin forging, you'll need to gather specific resources. The most common are Iron Ore, found in abundance in the rocky outcrops of the Whispering Peaks, and Tough Hide, dropped by the various beast-type enemies like the Dire Wolf and the Bristleback Boar encountered in the Verdant Forest.

Upgrading your armor provides significant stat boosts, increasing your Defense rating, which directly reduces incoming physical damage. For example, upgrading the basic Leather Tunic to its +3 tier will increase its Defense from 15 to 28. Beyond raw defense, certain armor sets offer unique passive bonuses. The "Guardian's Embrace" set, for instance, grants a 5% resistance to elemental damage when all four pieces are equipped. To craft higher-tier armor, you'll need rarer materials such as Obsidian Shards, a rare drop from the Shadow Lurkers found in the Sunken Caves, and Dragon Scales, obtainable by defeating the formidable Elder Drake in the Dragon's Maw.

The forging process itself requires a small amount of Forging Dust, a consumable item that can be purchased from the blacksmith, Borin, in Oakhaven for 50 gold each, or found in small quantities within treasure chests scattered throughout the world. A common mistake players make is neglecting armor upgrades in favor of weapon enhancements. However, a well-armored character can withstand more punishment, allowing for more aggressive combat strategies and reducing the need for constant healing. Prioritize upgrading your chest piece first, as it typically offers the largest defensive bonus. Remember to check the required materials for each upgrade tier before venturing out to gather, saving you valuable time and resources.
