Learn about Persona 3 Reload battle mechanics, including stats, commands like Analyze and Shift, and combat attributes.
Stats
Stats are numerical values that influence various aspects of combat in Persona 3 Reload.
- Exp: Experience points used for leveling up. The exact system is assumed: enemies drop a fixed amount, and Exp is split among party members, with lower-leveled members receiving more.
- Lv: Level. Increases with Exp. Determines which Personas can be fused and when Skills are learned.
- HP: Hit Points. Used for Physical Skills. If HP reaches 0, the party member is KO'd. The MC dying results in a game over.
- SP: Spirit Points. Used for non-physical Skills. Reaching 0 SP has no immediate negative effect.
- Atk: Attack. A modifier on ST for the attack command, influencing damage dealt based on (ST/EN)*AT.
- Def: Defense. Assumed to modify EN to reduce incoming damage.
- Acc: Hit Rate. Assumed to modify AG for the probability of hitting an enemy.
- Eva: Evasion. Assumed to modify AG for the probability of dodging an enemy.
- ST: Strength. The base stat for damage calculations in the attack command and Physical Skills, based on (ST/EN) * attack or Skill power.
- MA: Magic. The base stat for all magic Skills, influencing damage based on (MA/EN) * magic Skill power. Also affects HP healed by healing Skills.
- EN: Endurance. The base stat determining how much damage a character receives.
- AG: Agility. Assumed to be the base stat for hit/dodge probabilities and turn order.
- LU: Luck. Primarily affects critical hit rate and is assumed to influence dodge rate, hit rate, and the chance of inflicting/receiving Status Ailments.
Commands
These are the actions you can take during combat in Persona 3 Reload.
- Analyze: Shows enemy attributes and information. A Full Analysis reveals all affinities for one enemy, costs Fuuka 35 SP, and is unavailable until everyone has had a turn.
- Tactics: Gives orders to the party. You can set party members to 'Act Freely', 'Full Assault', 'Conserve SP', 'Heal/Support', or use 'Direct Commands' for full control.
- Escape: Attempts to run from battle. The party will try to run three turns after this command is chosen; it is not always reliable.
- Survey: Shows turn order and party/enemy status.
- Assist: Suggests a Skill or command an enemy is weak to, if applicable.
- Attack: Uses the equipped weapon.
- Skill: Uses a Persona's Skill. Costs HP for Physical Skills and SP for magic and support Skills.
- Guard: Reduces incoming damage by about 50%, sets Evasion to 0, negates weaknesses, and guards against one attack.
- Item: Allows you to use a consumable item.
- Shift: Available after obtaining a One More. Passes your turn to a different Party Member. Can be performed multiple times if One Mores are chained.
- Theurgy: Checks Theurgy and Personality. When the Theurgy Gauge is full, you can use a chosen Theurgy.
- Oracle: Fuuka's Theurgy, usable only when her Theurgy Gauge is full.
- Rush: Speeds up battle. Party Members use melee attacks on a single enemy until defeated, then move to another. Enemies act normally. Can be canceled anytime.
Attributes
Attributes are types of attacks that Personas and enemies have susceptibilities to. These are listed on the analysis screen and Persona status screen.
Susceptibilities:
- Blank: No susceptibility.
- Exclamation Point (!): Weak. Knocks down the character and deals about 10% more damage.
- Shield: Resist/Strong. Character receives about 25-50% less damage.
- "No" Sign: Nullify/Block. Character receives no damage.
- Shield with Heart: Drain/Absorb. Character heals HP equal to the damage received.
- Shield with Arrow: Repel/Reflect. Character deals damage back to the attacker. If the attacker also Repels/Reflects, the attacker blocks instead.
Attributes:
- Slash, Strike, Pierce: Physical Attacks that can Critical Hit.
- Fire, Ice, Electric, Wind: Magic Attacks. Ice can inflict freeze, Electric can inflict shock.
- Light, Dark: Magic Attacks. Some Skills are instakill. Bosses Null instakill. Weak/Resist for instakill affects hit rate. Cannot Drain instakill.
- Almighty: Magic Attack (not listed on susceptibility screen). All-Out Attacks use this attribute. Has no susceptibilities.
- Status Ailments: Magic Attacks (not listed on susceptibility screen). Some enemies and bosses Resist/Null these individually.
One More
When a character is inflicted with Down status, the attacker obtains a One More, granting them another turn. You can gain as many One Mores as there are enemies to knock down. If an attack hits multiple enemies, knocking down just one grants a One More. You cannot gain a One More from an enemy already knocked down.
Shift
When a Party Member obtains a One More, they can perform a Shift, passing the turn to a different Party Member. If another One More is obtained, you can Shift again to any Party Member, even if they have already acted.
