Part 3

Unlock Blade and discover new gameplay mechanics in Part 3 of our Marvel's Blade walkthrough. Learn about S.H.I.E.L.D. Access Points, hero upgrades, and more.

Walkthrough:

  1. Gameplay Changes vs. X-Men Legends:
    • S.H.I.E.L.D. Access Points (SAP) replace Xtraction Points for saving, team changes, and teleporting.
    • S.H.I.E.L.D. Credits replace Tech Bits as currency.
    • Heroes have eight normal powers and one extreme power.
    • (PC Only) Keyboard controls use number keys (1-8, 0 for extreme) without a powers menu.
    • Health and energy orbs appear from defeated enemies and broken objects, automatically healing nearby heroes. Orb passing only works in Story Mode.
    • KO'd heroes must rest for five minutes and can be revived at the next SAP using the 'Revive Team' option, with no cost.
    • Skill ranks can be bought, with increasing costs for higher ranks. Some skills require purchasing new ranks, not just using skill points.
    • Each hero can equip only one special item, and there's less equipment overall.
    • Each hero has four outfits, upgradeable with Credits, with varying upgrade types per outfit.
    • There is no in-game store; excess items can be sold but not repurchased.
    • The main story can be played in competitive multiplayer.
    • Extreme powers require momentum, gained from 'finishers' (combo attacks that defeat an enemy) or treasure drops. Momentum is shown as a yellow meter around the character portrait.
    • Using an extreme power can trigger extreme powers in teammates with unlocked extreme powers and full momentum.
  2. After Beating the Game Once:
    • Unlocked characters and outfits are saved in 'settings.dat'.
    • On a new game after beating it once:
      • Choose your starting team for the first mission.
      • Use any previously unlocked character and outfit.
      • Play in Hard mode.
      • Choose default character stats or stats from a previous save.

My Team:

You can form a personal team of four heroes starting at the Atlantis mission. Using three or more heroes from your roster earns team reputation and team skills. Building your team involves selecting four heroes, then accessing the 'My Team' button at any SAP or during initial selection. You can create a team from scratch, choose a logo, and enter a name, or select one of the three pre-formed teams: Avengers, Fantastic Four, or Marvel Knights.

Reputation points are earned for completing objectives, with each 100 points granting a team level and a team skill point. Team skills include:

  • Team Vitality: Boosts team's maximum health
  • Team Synergy: Boosts team's maximum energy
  • Team Force: Increases all damage done by your team
  • Team Focus: Increases experience points gained
  • Team Tactics (requires team level 5): Increases the rate at which you gain momentum
  • Team Bench (requires team level 5): Increases team roster slots

Team benefits are active when playing with at least three heroes from your Team Roster. Changing team roster members costs 50 Reputation points, so it's advisable to wait for Team Bench upgrades to expand your roster.

Unique Conversations:

Certain hero and NPC combinations can trigger fully voiced, unique conversations. Examples include:

  • Elektra & Bullseye (Act I, Helicarrier, Command Deck)
  • Deadpool & S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents (Act I, Helicarrier, Barracks)
  • Thor & Ra... (conversation incomplete in source)
