Moorwing Boss Guide

Master the Moorwing boss fight in Hollow Knight: Silksong with our comprehensive guide. Learn attack patterns, weaknesses, and strategies for both phases to emerge victorious.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Taking any hit deals two health points of damage. You can only take three hits before dying without healing.
• The Reaper's Crest's downward thrust/pogo jump is effective.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Moorwing uses Swooping Divebomb, Claw Flurry, and Spinning Talon Throw. These attacks are generally easier to dodge.
2. Phase 2: Moorwing uses all Phase 1 attacks plus new variations and attacks. It roars to signal the start of this phase.

Strategy:

• General: Be aware that you only have three hits before death without healing.
• Phase 1: Dodge Talon Throws. Attack during other moves, potentially using a downward thrust.
• Phase 2: Play more defensively. The Swooping Divebomb is now followed by a Talon Throw, so dodge both. The Double Talon Throw has a second talon that curves upward and back down; move forward for the first and away for the second. The new Talon Boomerang attack involves Moorwing flying high and shooting talons that arc to the ground and then slide along it; be ready to jump.
• Dazing: When Moorwing crashes to the ground, dazed, use the opportunity to heal.

How to Skip the Moorwing Boss:

It is possible to avoid fighting Moorwing by starting The Lost Fleas quest in The Marrow, finding five Fleas, and returning to the Flea Caravan. Agreeing to travel with the caravan will transport you to Greymoor, bypassing the Moorwing encounter. It is uncertain if this skips the fight permanently or if the caravan might move again later.
