In The Beginning...

Welcome to Vice City! This guide covers the 'In The Beginning...' mission, introducing Tommy Vercetti and the start of his Vice City story. Learn about the characters and the initial setup.

Alright, so you've just booted up Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and you're thrown right into the thick of it. This first bit, called 'In The Beginning...', is basically the game's intro sequence. It sets the stage, introduces you to some key players, and kicks off the whole story. Think of it as the game's way of saying, "Here's what's up, now let's get going!" The Setup: You play as Tommy Vercetti, who's just gotten out of prison after serving fifteen years for, uh, let's just say a very messy job that involved eleven guys. His boss, Sonny Forelli of the Forelli Crime Family, decides it's time to send Tommy down to Vice City to handle some business. It's a way to keep Tommy busy and expand the Forelli family's reach. First Steps in Vice City: Once Tommy lands in Vice City, he's met by Ken Rosenberg, a lawyer who's the Forelli's contact there. They hop into Ken's Admiral car, along with a couple of other guys, Harry and Lee, and head to Viceport for a drug deal. The plan is to meet with the Vance Crime Family, who show up in a helicopter. Things Go South (Fast): Now, this is where things get dicey. The drug deal is ambushed by some hitmen. Sadly, Harry, Lee, and one of the Vance brothers, Victor Vance, don't make it out alive. You, Tommy, and the other Vance brother, Lance Vance, manage to escape. Aftermath: Tommy and Ken head back to Ken's office. Tommy tells Ken to get some rest, and that he'll swing by tomorrow to figure out what's next. After this cutscene, you're basically in free-roam. You can do whatever you want before heading to the Ocean View Hotel to call Sonny and report what happened. The game will prompt you to follow a pink blip to the hotel. Key Characters Introduced: * Tommy Vercetti: That's you! Fresh out of the slammer and ready to make a name for yourself. * Ken Rosenberg: Your lawyer and the Forelli's man in Vice City. He's a bit of a nervous wreck, but he's your main contact. * Sonny Forelli: Your boss back in Liberty City. He's the one pulling the strings from afar. * Victor Vance: One of the Vance brothers you meet during the drug deal. He unfortunately doesn't survive the ambush. * Lance Vance: The other Vance brother who survives the ambush. You'll be seeing more of him. Heads Up: This whole sequence is designed to throw you into the action and establish the main conflict. Don't get too attached to Harry and Lee, as they're just early casualties to show you how dangerous Vice City can be. Your main goal after this initial setup is to figure out how to proceed and start building your empire.
