Alright, so you've just finished the intro movie and now it's time to get into the thick of it! The game's gonna ask you to name the main character. You can stick with the default, Kazuki Takemura, or get creative with your own name. Just a heads-up, Kazuki's the only one you can rename, so make it count!

• Starting Ace Rank: 0
• Combat Specialties: Shotgun & Melee (Fist)

Kazuki's the main guy for both Emma's and Alisa's stories. He's a bit hot-headed and not exactly the class clown, but his Zenislev wanzer is a beast – super mobile with tons of HP, perfect for getting up close and personal.

After that, just follow the scientist's lead. This mission is basically your crash course in battle controls. Seriously, pay attention here – it's your first real taste of how the game works. Your wanzer is way tougher than the test target, so winning is pretty much a done deal. Think of it as a friendly sparring match.

Once that's wrapped up, you'll hit an intermission screen. This is your chance to save your progress if you want. Just remember, saving outside of battle uses up two memory card blocks. When you're ready, choose "Exit" to keep the story rolling.

You'll find yourself in the JDF laboratory. Your first objective is to chat with Koike, then find Ryogo. Ryogo's gonna ask if you want to head to the construction site with him. Now, this is a HUGE decision – it actually splits the game! Go with Ryogo, and you're on Emma's Story path. Blow him off, and you'll be playing Alisa's Story. After you've made your choice, you can head over to the Wanzer Testing Facility for a deep dive into the battle system. If this is your first Front Mission, or even if you're a veteran, this tutorial is super useful. You can even rack up some easy experience points by beating up the practice wanzers, potentially boosting Kazuki to a full Ace Rank right off the bat!
