PMC vs. Scav: Understanding Your Role

In Escape from Tarkov, players primarily take on one of two roles: a PMC (Private Military Contractor) or a Scav (Scavenger). Each role offers a unique gameplay experience with different objectives, risks, and rewards. Understanding these differences is crucial for survival and success in the harsh world of Tarkov.

• PMC: Your main character, with persistent gear and inventory. Your goal is to complete quests, extract valuable loot, and survive raids to progress your character. PMCs start with their own gear and have a high-risk, high-reward playstyle.
• Scav: A temporary character with randomized gear. Scav runs are a way to earn loot and experience without risking your main PMC's equipment. Scavs have a more relaxed playstyle, often focusing on looting and extracting safely, but can also engage other Scavs or PMCs.
