Navigate Part 9 of Dragon Quest IV with our comprehensive walkthrough. Learn about key items, locations, and strategies to progress through the game.
Walkthrough
- 1Training Dungeon: Start a new game, choose your character's sex. You'll begin in a cellar where a trainer attacks you. Break bottles to find a [SEED OF STRENGTH] (eat it to boost attack) and a [MEDICINAL HERB] (save for healing). Break a crate for [3 COINS] and go upstairs.
- 2Village: Break a crate for an [ANTIDOTAL HERB] (cures poison). Head left over a bridge to encounter a frog. Enter the house on the left, examine a bottle for another [MEDICINAL HERB], and return to the training dungeon.
- 3The Frog's Transformation: The frog has turned into a red-haired person. Talk to them and learn you need to find someone in the village. Return to the house where you found the last Medicinal Herb. Talk to the man behind the counter, who is your father. Watch the conversation and save your progress when prompted.
Tips
- Save seeds found before Chapter V to give to the hero in Chapter V.
- Items stored in the bag during early chapters carry over to Chapter V. Store valuable items like Seeds and expensive items in the bag.
- The Thief's Key opens blue doors, the Magic Key opens red doors, and the Ultimate Key opens metal gates.
- Hand in Mini Medals at the castle on the small island in the northeastern part of the world map once you have Torneko's ship.
- Battle lineups can only be changed while traveling on the world map.
- Metal King Slimes and other metal-type monsters grant a lot of experience points but are rare and tend to escape.
- Use the "Sands of Time" item during battle to slow time and prevent metal-type enemies from escaping.
- Use the Liquid Metal Sword to deal serious damage to metal-type enemies.
- The primary reward for this section is the progression of the story and the acquisition of key items and abilities necessary for future chapters. Specific rewards for Mini Medals are obtained by visiting the castle in the northeastern part of the world map after acquiring Torneko's ship.
