Initial Character Customization

Learn how to customize your character in Destiny 2, from choosing your class and race to personalizing appearance and starting your Guardian's journey.

When you first start Destiny 2, you'll be prompted to create your Guardian. This initial character customization allows you to choose your Race, Class, and Appearance. Your choices here will define your character's look and starting abilities.

Race: You can choose between Human, Awoken, and Exo. Each race has a unique backstory and aesthetic, but they do not affect gameplay mechanics.

Class: Your class determines your core abilities, including your Super ability, class ability, and grenade and melee options. The three classes are:

• Titan: A heavily armored warrior focused on defense and close-quarters combat.
• Hunter: A nimble and agile combatant specializing in precision and mobility.
• Warlock: A master of the arcane, wielding powerful elemental abilities.

Appearance: This is where you personalize your Guardian's look. You can customize features such as gender, head, skin tone, facial features, markings, and more. While these choices are purely cosmetic, they allow you to create a unique identity for your character.

Take your time during this process, as while some aspects can be changed later, your initial choices for Race and Class are permanent for that character.
