The Eagle Archer is a common ranged enemy found in the Eagle Temple, posing a threat from a distance with its bow. These enemies are typically positioned on ledges or behind cover, making them difficult to engage directly with melee weapons. Their primary attack is a volley of arrows that they fire in quick succession. These arrows travel relatively fast and can inflict moderate damage. While not as immediately dangerous as melee combatants, a sustained barrage from multiple Eagle Archers can quickly deplete your health, especially if you are also dealing with other threats. They also have a special attack where they fire a single, more powerful arrow that deals increased damage and can stagger you. Some variants might also employ explosive arrows that deal area-of-effect damage upon impact. The key to dealing with Eagle Archers is to close the distance safely and eliminate them before they can inflict too much damage. Using cover to approach them is essential. Weapons with good projectile-stopping capabilities, such as the Shield, can mitigate some of the incoming arrow fire. If you are using a melee build, try to flank them or use abilities that allow for quick traversal to their position. Ranged weapons are, of course, highly effective against them, allowing you to take them out from a safe distance. Be aware of their elevated positions; sometimes, you may need to find alternative routes to reach them.

A common mistake when encountering Eagle Archers is to rush into open areas, exposing yourself to their volleys. Instead, utilize the environment for cover and advance methodically. If you are struggling to reach them, consider using weapons with a longer reach, such as the Spear, to poke at them from a safer distance. Some players find success by using explosive barrels or other environmental hazards to damage or flush out entrenched archers. The Eagle Temple is known for its verticality, so always be mindful of enemies positioned above you. Successfully clearing out Eagle Archers not only prevents unnecessary damage but also makes subsequent encounters with other enemies in the area much more manageable. Their defeat typically yields a small amount of Obsidian Shards, contributing to your overall progression.
