Your main goal is to set up defenses on the far side of the bridge, the side away from the town. The Germans are going to come at you from the north, and they'll keep coming until a scripted event forces you to fall back to the church. The more you can stop them here, the more will spawn, and the faster you'll hit your kill quota.

For each defense point, you'll want a machine gun nest built by your engineers, a 5.7mm AT gun, and a squad armed with either recoilless rifles or Panzershrecks. Have your airborne units lay down mines, tank traps (if you have 'em), barbed wire, and sandbags to really fortify the area. Seriously, upgrade your engineers with flamethrowers – they're clutch for covering your flanks if any infantry get too close. Just don't go completely overboard with defenses; a big scripted bombardment is coming that'll force you to abandon them anyway.

You'll also need to set up defenses around the church. Get any abandoned AT guns and MG42s manned and positioned there. The Germans will attack from three different directions, so make sure your defenses cover a full 180-degree arc in front of the church.

Any extra squads you have should act as a 'fire brigade.' This means they're ready to reinforce any defense point that's getting overwhelmed, and they can help replenish squads and repair MG emplacements. Ideally, station this fire brigade near the center bridge.

Just hold the line until the first artillery strike hits the area. Once that happens, fall back across the bridge and try to regroup your forces near the town hall until the second barrage begins.

When the second barrage hits, pull everyone back to the church. Make sure to replace any units you lost during the shelling. If you've got snipers, now's the time to put them up in the church tower.

Keep holding the line until reinforcements arrive. Your top priority is taking out their Panzers – they're the biggest threat. Use your MGs to mop up the infantry. Save your grenades and use satchel charges for those tough Panzers instead.

If you've survived this long, reinforcements should be rolling in with some Shermans and rifle squads. Secure the area around the church, clear out any remaining infantry, and then focus on wiping out the four Panzers with your new Shermans and rifle squads. If you've been doing well, you should easily hit 250 kills, especially if you were already around 240 when the reinforcements showed up.

To snag that Bronze Star medal, aim to hit 80-90% of your kill quota (that's 230-240 kills) by the time your reinforcements arrive. If you don't, you might fall short because the Germans stop spawning once the reinforcements show up. This part can take a bit of luck and practice!
