Part 7

Complete Part 7 of the Black Book walkthrough, including the Ginormous Rat King boss and the Man of Shadows trophy.

Head north and descend stairs, then go north to find a chest with a Herb to the west. Continue east to find an Iron Helmet. Loop west and south to find two Herbs. Return east and north into the old ritual room.

After a scene, Anders will travel north to an ancient ice cavern. Proceed north into the next room. Follow the path northeast to find an Iron Shield. Take the east path, but continue north at the split to find Iron Armor. Go south and then west at the split.

At the next split, going north yields a Herb. Continue west to another split. Go west to find a Herb and an Iron Sword. Proceed north to an opening in the wall. Enter to find a fire that heals and allows you to save (checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death)). Head back outside and continue north to find the boss.

Ginormous Rat King

This boss is easier than the dungeon. If you are level seven, it cannot hurt Chest. Use regular attacks and heal if a party member's health drops below twenty. Most likely, you can just keep attacking until it is defeated.

Head north out of the sewers into Wester proper. If you are trophy hunting, skip to the 'Man of Shadows' section before proceeding, or you will miss it. This guide assumes you have completed it due to the items and experience gained.

Man of Shadows

To get this trophy, travel to the Palace Ruins north of Lakehaven before recruiting Punchy, Casty, and Serps. You can do this after speaking to Queen Becca, but you won't have Chest with you then, so it's recommended to do it first.

You can save in Lakehaven to the east before going to the ruins. It has the same shops as in Ogden's Story, but you cannot use gear you don't already own. The ruins are northwest of Lakehaven. Head inside, go west, then north for a Herb, Wyvern Powder, and Honey Drops. Go down the stairs south and head north to find an Antidote.

Go east and take the southern path at the split. To the east at the bottom of the screen is an empty chest. Go all the way west to find 500 Gold. Chests in the flooded room to the north contain a Rope and a Wyvern Powder. The chest to the northeast has another Herb.

Return to the main floor and head north up the central section for a Rope. Go to the eastern section and head north for 75 Gold. Go down the stairs to your south. Follow the path east as far as possible, then head north. There is an empty chest to the northeast, but the northwest path is your goal. Follow it to the end to trigger a scene and earn the Man of Shadows trophy. Return to Wester.

Shops in Wester:

• Item Shop: Herb (10), Turboherb (250), Antidote (10), Honey Drops (100), Wyvern Powder (100), Rope (100)

Speak to Queen Becca in the throne room to the north. Chest will leave the party, so loot any gear you want from him first. Queen Becca will explain a curse and send Chest to find a healer in Lakehaven. Anders will recruit allies and search the Ice Cavern.

Head south out of the castle and into the building to the west. The center clerk allows you to draw two new party members from the guild: Punchy and Casty. You can then proceed to the Ice Cavern or recruit Serps by following the next section. It is strongly urged to get Serps first. The Tower of Trials is also accessible at any time.

Serpent Diablo

An optional party member can be recruited. Head for Lakehaven and go southwest of town to find a cave opening. Head inside and go west. Two chests contain a Rope and a Herb. Go south and get the chest with the Hammer near the small body of water. The chest to the southeast is empty; go west at the bottom and exit the tunnel. More chests further west are empty.

Go east on the world map to reach the Village of Derwent. Go to the inn and speak to the man in the black shirt. After dialogue, Serp will join the party. If you have Serp, Punchy, and Casty in your party, the trophy With a Little Help... will pop.

Tower of Trials

To reach the Tower of Trials, speak to the southern boat captain on the pier in southern Wester. This is an optional dungeon. If you go to the Ice Cavern and defeat its boss, you cannot return here. This dungeon contains Ander's best weapon.

Inside the tower, there are four sets of stairs. The northwestern stairs lead to an Iron Helmet. The southwestern stairs lead nowhere. The southeastern stairs lead to two chests containing a Hammer and an Iron Shield. Take the northeastern stairs to the next floor. Work your way around to the next set of stairs and ascend. Take these stairs to find a Leather Armor.
