Learn how to use the spotting mechanic in Battlefield 4 to tag enemies and vehicles for your team, earning 20 score per kill.

Spotting is a useful tactic in Battlefield 4's multiplayer and single-player modes. Use the spot button while looking at an enemy soldier or vehicle to tag them for your team. If a soldier is tagged, they will have a red upside-down triangle over their head. If a vehicle is tagged, it will be marked with a red star and a small red icon of the vehicle.

If a teammate or squad mate kills the enemy combatant you spotted, you will earn 20 Score for your Rank and for the Kit you are using.

Tips
  • Spotting helps your team locate and eliminate enemies more effectively.
  • Consistently spotting vehicles can provide valuable intelligence to your team.
  • Aim for a headshot (a shot to the enemy's head) when possible for a quicker elimination after spotting.
