First Steps: Character Creation & Spawn

Learn how to create your survivor and choose the best starting spawn region in ARK: Survival Ascended for beginners.

Upon starting a new game, you'll be prompted to create your survivor. While cosmetic, consider your character's size; smaller characters can sometimes navigate tight spaces more easily. After creation, you'll choose a spawn region. For beginners, 'South Zone 1' or 'South Zone 2' are highly recommended due to their abundance of resources and relatively fewer dangerous predators. Avoid 'Carnivore Island' or 'Snow Biome' until you're well-established.
