Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness Part 9 guide covers destroying the portal, rescuing Grom Hellscream, recruiting Thunderlords, and destroying Bonechewers.
Walkthrough
- 1Sort out heading for red. Keep Khurdran healed.
- 2Red will have reduced troop numbers, but Black will keep sending dragons. Send spotters to watch Black and Red's mines.
- 3If possible, take out White as soon as the second mine falls, but be cautious of Red and Black interrupting.
- 4When Red's mine falls, Red's peasants will gather along the rock wall. Move Khurdran to deal with Red's peasants. Black's dragons may attack Khurdran; retreat, heal, and return if they do.
- 5When Black's mine falls, build your normal force and attack White. Red and Black usually won't respond, but have mages ready for Black dragons.
- 6Clear the area around the portal. Use Blizzard if you cannot afford catapults.
- 7Have Khadgar attack the portal. This will take about 15 minutes due to his weak attack. Defend Khadgar or attack other teams during this time.
- 8When the portal falls, you win and receive the rank of "Designer".
Walkthrough
- 1Start in the bottom right with a small force including a death knight. Your goal is in the top middle, but it is best to rescue Grom Hellscream first.
- 2Head directly left, smashing skeletons and enemy troops.
- 3When you reach the left side, head up to find Hellscream, more troops, and a lumber mill. Complete both troll upgrades before continuing.
- 4Follow the rock line to the right of where you found Hellscream. Use the "draw" technique to pull troops from the large group in the middle of the rock in manageable chunks.
- 5Head through the opening in the rock and take the right path. The left path is too close to the death knights.
- 6Up the right path, you will find some enemy troops and reinforcements.
- 7Carefully head left, drawing skeletons back to you. If a lone death knight uses death coil, ignore him and keep a grip on your troops, as they will chase him into the skeletons.
- 8With most skeletons gone, send your weakest units in. A set of three death knights in the "encampment" and a lone death knight with mana will slaughter them with death coils.
- 9Once the encampment is clear and their mana is mostly gone, send in a squad to kill them all. You may need to smash walls.
Walkthrough
- 1Start in the top left with a small force including Dentarg, an ogre-magi hero. Thunderlord (purple) is in the bottom right, Bonechewer (blue) is on the right side, and Shattered Hand (white) is scattered on the left.
- 2Head south to Purple and note the gold mine on your way. As soon as you touch the town hall, they become yours. Start building your town. Your first mine is outside of town, so place defenses accordingly.
- 3Run your starting force back up and head slightly right at roughly 1/3 and 2/3 down that side. You should find a blacksmith, lumber mill, white reinforcements, and Bladefist.
- 4Return everyone to town and start upgrades at the blacksmith and lumber mill. You cannot keep these buildings, so do not worry if Blue attacks them while you are not upgrading.
- 5Blue will usually attack the right-hand door of the purple base. Position your towers and troops accordingly. Place a few towers at the top entrance as they sometimes send troops there.
- 6When Blue attacks external buildings, start work on replacements within town. They take a long time to find the blacksmith but find the lumber mill quickly. With a good defense, you might not get hit.
- 7When your first mine runs out, build a few towers and a town hall around the other one. Blue will find it as soon as you start mining, so have your defenses ready. This is also when they usually find the blacksmith.
- 8After a while, you should have a normal squad with full upgrades. Head into Blue's territory from the top, as there are fewer defenses. Blue has a lot of gold and several mines, but they are badly laid out.
- 9Systematically destroy all of Blue's forces.
Walkthrough
- 1Start just right of the middle. Thunderlord (purple) is to the northwest, and Bonechewer (Blue) is to the northeast. There are also groups of purple troops guarding extra mines in the top and bottom right.
- 2Start placing towers on the approach routes as quickly as possible.
