Elemental Vessels Explained: Getting Started

Elemental Vessels unlock classes for your characters, each with unique strengths and weaknesses.

Skills associated with these classes can be unlocked on each character’s Elemental Plot using Elemental Points.

Elemental Points are primarily gained by leveling up and collecting Elementites, though Gold Clovers can also be converted one-to-one.

Each Elemental Vessel can be assigned to the R2/RT button for use in battle.

After use, Vessels go on cooldown; melee strikes on enemies can shorten this cooldown.

Some Vessels, like the Wood one, have longer cooldowns than others.

AI companions can be set to use Vessels or not via their Strategy settings.

Using Vessels in combat releases orbs that replenish MP (base value of two) and can be automatically collected.

Ability Seeds can increase MP and HP recovery from these orbs.

Elemental Breaks are more powerful versions of standard Vessel maneuvers.

To use Elemental Breaks, you must progress the Elemental Plot to unlock the second tier.

The first node on the second tier unlocks the Elemental Break for that specific Vessel.

Unlocking an Elemental Break for the first time introduces the Mana Gauge, located to the left of the characters in the lower left corner of the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap).

Using Vessels fills the Mana Gauge with orbs.

Once the Mana Gauge is full, hold the Vessel button to perform an Elemental Break.

During an Elemental Break, the entire field is covered with the element, magic and moves of the same elemental type deal increased damage, and casting times are reduced.

The normal effects of the Elemental Vessel are also enhanced during an Elemental Break.
