Welcome to my seventeenth guide for GameFAQs. Nice to have you here.

I bought and played through The Last Revelation (aka, "TR4") shortly after it came out in late 1999. Although, like many gamers, I disagreed with some of the design elements, I found the game to be a worthy successor to Tomb Raiders I and II, and a marked improvement over III. Instead of containing 15 - 20 longer levels, it contained several levels of conventional length combined with several rather short levels. Overall, I found there to be less emphasis on defeating dangerous enemies with guns but a greater focus on exploration, all without the arbitrarily excessive difficulty of TR3. In short, I found it to be a good balance of elements.

There are some new elements in the game. For example, sometimes in order to "finish" a level you need to backtrack through a previous level. This blending of levels has definitely been controversial, but I think you'll find that this guide will walk you through those transitions smoothly. Lara can now swing on ropes and even swing from one rope to another. This is going to take some practice, but since you can Save your game almost anywhere, there is little penalty for missing a jump. Also new is the LaserSight that can be attached to the crossbow or revolver. It allows you to target an enemy that is too far away for Lara and the enemy to autotarget each other, thus allowing you to sniper foes without fear of taking fire. And the powerful but inaccurate grenades of old are now complemented by high-accuracy long-distance exploding arrows. Very cool!

The Remastered version, of course, also added the dimension of Trophies. In your first pass through the game, you should collect either 62 or 63 of the 65 Trophies available, depending on one rather quirky Trophy that doesn't seem to obey its own rules. Five relatively short levels might need to be replayed to make that one appear. Once you have 63 Trophies, the other 2 will appear after completing the game at New Game+ difficulty level.

I believe this guide to be unique, and I maintain that in many ways it is your best companion for playing the Remastered version of The Last Revelation. Other guides generally fall into one of 3 categories: walkthroughs, Trophy guides, and video guides. Here's how they compare.

  • Most plain-vanilla walkthroughs are text-only guides that were written in the early 2000's, and many have not been updated since. They contain no information about Trophies and lack the screenshots that can be very effective at clarifying written descriptions. Compared to modern HTML guides, most people now find text-only walkthroughs difficult to follow.
  • Trophy guides generally list Trophies and tell you how to earn them. However, I have yet to find another guide that integrates this information with a walkthrough and puts the earning of Trophies within the context of actually playing the game. When using only a Trophy guide, it is very easy to overlook an achievement, which can result in the repeating of large sections of the game.
  • Video guides are great for showing you what to do, but often lack information about _how_ to do things and, sometimes more importantly, how _not_ to do it. For example, at least one Trophy requires using the so-called "crawling corner bug". If you just see this move executed in a video, you would probably have little idea how to do it yourself. This guide provides step-by-step instructions with accompanying screenshots detailing the process. And, whenever I encountered a common problem with something in the game, I described it and provided guidance about how to avoid it.

This guide enhances a traditional walkthrough with screenshots and blends it with a Trophy guide. It takes you th
