Tomb Raider (1996) Sanctuary of the Scion walkthrough: conserve life for tough battles and find all pickups. Learn enemy tactics.
Walkthrough
- 1Pick up 2 sets of Magnum clips from the NE and SE corners of the initial room.
- 2Head halfway up the stairs and wait for 2 Atlantean mutants. Backhop while targeting them and use your Magnums to defeat them before they can attack.
- 3At the top of the stairs in the NW corner, collect more Magnum clips.
- 4Pull up three times to reach the back of a giant Sphinx.
- 5Go right of the sloped block, slide north, then turn west.
- 6You will face a Mutant that throws fireballs. Sidejump to dodge the fireballs and attack with your Magnums. If it stands still, you can blast it with no damage.
- 7After the Mutant explodes, collect Magnum clips from the sand and run counterclockwise around the sphinx. Collect more Magnum clips between the sphinx's paws.
- 8Head to the pillars north of the Sphinx's right paw. Use Save Crystal (1) here.
- 9Time a run past the shredder or make a running jump to the walkway beyond it. Pick up the small Medi Pack (6) near the shredder.
- 10Watch for a gap in the path and proceed to the switch. Do not throw it yet. Throwing a switch typically releases a flying Mutant that explodes upon termination.
- 11Throw the switch, press a button to see, jump back across the gap, and wait for the flying Mutant (4) on the raised part of the path before the shredder.
- 12Warning: Ensure you are killed by the flying Mutant, not by a fall or the shredder. Retreat to the corner near the shredder and let the mutant bombard you with fireballs.
- 13Keep rotating left with the flying Mutant's flight path, shooting it with both Magnums. When it lands, backhop towards the corner to avoid its explosion. Aim for zero damage.
- 14Go back to the switch, turn right, and perform a standing jump to the large Medi Pack (7).
- 15Safety drop off the south end.
Tips
- This level has 7 Save Crystals.
- Flying mutants are difficult to defeat and can knock you off narrow ledges.
- You will use a lot of Uzi ammo; shotgun shells and Magnum clips are more common pickups.
- Avoid the invisible ledge where Uzis used to be, as it releases 2 more flying mutants for a net loss in ammo and risk of falling.
- When fighting the centaur protecting the second Ankh, use Option 2 to take little or no damage.
- For the final battle against Larson, try to jump past the tile that triggers him to avoid the fight. If this fails, use your shotgun.
- If the flying Mutant does not appear, it may be stuck in the rocks. Reloading or jumping out in front of it might free it. Save before engaging it to avoid being knocked off a ledge.
