Focus is a measure of your Sim's overall mood, represented by the focus meter. A green bar indicates positive focus, while a red bar signifies negative focus. Your Sim's focus influences the outcome of tasks, personal interactions, and quests. Focus is affected by Traits, Fatal Flaws, current events, Sim interactions, and random encounters. Always aim for a positive focus by ensuring your active Sim's basic needs are met. Maintaining a high, positive focus is essential for achieving Platinum medals on quests, which results in greater amounts of money, experience, and rewards upon completion.

Focus is influenced by positive buffs and negative debuffs. For instance, eating a meal provides a Focus buff, whereas going hungry results in a Focus debuff. Consuming a particularly delicious meal grants a higher-level Focus buff. Starvation, however, can lead to a Sim dying.
