Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III's Introduction, covering combat, boss strategies, and key mechanics.

You begin in control of a group of Military Cadets in the Juno Naval Fortress during a crisis. This early section takes place a lot later in the game and offers a taste of things to come. Unfortunately, those that haven’t played any of the previous games or any turn-based RPG before will struggle, as the game throws you in the deep end without any tutorial.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
To begin, switch your character to Kurt by pressing the [L1] button and then make your way over to the right and smash the boxes open by pressing the [X] button. Smash the boxes at the start of the Introduction to fill up your Charge Gauge.
  2. 2
Proceed up the stairs and smash a few more boxes open before looking to your left to encounter your first battle. Get a little closer and then press the [R2] button to unleash a Special Field Attack. This will deal some damage and stun the enemies, allowing you to take your turns earlier in the battle. You can interact with enemies by pressing the [Square] button to bring up a list of their weaknesses and strengths. Pay attention to the numbers shown on-screen: over 100 means they’re weak, below 100 means they’re resistant. Saber Cougars are weak to Fire (160) and resistant against Earth. Use Crafts if you don’t have Arts with the correct element, ensuring each enemy has an arrow above their heads to confirm the attack will hit them.
  3. 3
After the first battle, head up more stairs to face off against five Sneak Gunner G’s. Inspect their weaknesses to find they’re weak to Fire (160). During this battle, you may notice a Link Attack pop up. You can either Assist with a follow-up attack and restore some BP, or perform a Rush that costs two BP for an attack between two linked characters. Burst costs five BP and triggers an attack involving all party members, best used when enemies are broken.
  4. 4
After the second battle, head up the stairs and take out another group. Continue on further to enter a cutscene. After the cutscene, you’ll face two Sleipnir F2’s, which are weak to Water or Fire. Musse and Kurt’s Crystal Edge Art is effective against them.
  5. 5
After the Sleipnir F2’s are defeated, another cutscene will play, followed by a battle against Ennea the Sharp and Ines the Stout.

Boss: Ennea the Sharp and Ines the Stout

Ennea the Sharp41960☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆E - 100, WA - 100, F - 100, WN - 100N/A

Strategy:

  • Ines the Stout has 42220 HP and Ennea the Sharp has 41960 HP. Press up on the D-PAD and select the Sledgehammer skill to increase your Break Damage to 300%.
  • Once their break gauge is depleted, they will enter Break status. Use normal attacks or S-Crafts during this time, as they will have a 100% Critical Attack chance. This allows for Assists to deal significant damage and build BP.
  • Use a skill that can Impede when they charge abilities to cancel the attack.
  • Nightmare Strategy: Don’t be afraid to use items, as you won’t have them after this battle. Focus on one foe at a time and work on breaking them. Juna’s Cross Break Craft is effective. Use an Impede Craft any time an enemy is charging an attack to avoid heavy damage.

Upon victory, you will have finished the Introduction and be given a choice to save as the Prologue will begin.
