Learn how to defeat the N.Sutherland Highway Monster, the Queen Kumanba, in Trails of Cold Steel III. Get tips on its weaknesses, powerful attacks, and the best strategies to win.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
To start this side quest, you'll need to head to Saint-Arkh with your old Class VII companions. The easiest way to get there is by using the Quick Travel function. Once you arrive, select North Sutherland Highway and then proceed onto Highway 2.
  2. 2
Before you engage the Queen Kumanba, it's a good idea to head towards the southern part of the map. Use the regular monsters in the area to build up your Combat Points (CP) before you start the main battle.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Enemy: Queen Kumanba
  • HP: 25327
  • Resistances: Slash (☆☆), Thrust (☆), Pierce (☆), Strike (☆☆)
  • Elemental Efficacy: E (80%), WA (120%), F (140%), WN (160%)
  • Item Drop: Earth Bell

Phases:

  1. Initial Phase: Before you start attacking, it's highly recommended to use Fie's 'Zephyr Wing' Craft to gain an advantage with extra turns. Focus on breaking the Queen Kumanba while using any Crafts that apply debuffs to make the fight easier.
  2. Enhanced Phase: The Queen Kumanba will eventually become enhanced. When this happens, your priority should be to break it again as quickly as possible. Alternatively, you can try to spread out your party members to avoid taking massive damage, ensuring everyone is fully healed.

Strategy:

  • General Strategy: Pop Fie's 'Zephyr Wing' early for extra turns. Focus on breaking the Queen Kumanba and applying debuffs with your Crafts.
  • Dealing with Fatal Stab: The Queen Kumanba has a deadly attack called 'Fatal Stab'. You can counter this by using a skill that has the 'Impede' status effect. Keep an eye out for when it's charging this attack and use Impede immediately to prevent it from hitting.
  • Dealing with Shock Quake: Another dangerous attack is 'Shock Quake'. Unfortunately, this attack cannot be countered with Impede. If someone is hit by it and dies, you'll need to use a 'Reviving Balm' to bring them back. Alternatively, Elliot's 'Remedy Fantasia' S-Craft can fully restore everyone's HP, which is a lifesaver.
  • Nightmare Difficulty: On Nightmare difficulty, the Queen Kumanba is significantly tougher, with skills that can instantly kill your party members. Always watch for her charging attacks to use Impede against 'Fatal Stab'. When the Queen Kumanba is enhanced, focus on dealing as much damage as possible while it's broken.
  • Party Synergy: Fie's 'Zephyr Wing' is still very effective. Laura's 'Valiant Hearts' Order can also be useful when the monster is broken, helping you push for the kill.
  • Resource Management: You'll likely find yourself reviving party members frequently, so make sure you have plenty of 'Reviving Balms' on hand.
