Complete walkthrough for Part 19 of Super Mario Galaxy 2, covering Clockwork Ruins Galaxy and Throwback Galaxy, including all Power Stars and the Comet Medal.
Walkthrough: Clockwork Ruins Galaxy
- Head onto the rotating clock mechanism, moving right to a safe platform. Navigate the next mechanism, using the platform below for safety if you fall, and climb a pole to reach another platform. Ride this platform around to the right, then onto the largest mechanism and ride its topmost part to the Launch Star.
- Hit the Checkpoint Flag and enter the door-shaped hole. Wait for the blue wall to recede, then move right and stand before the lamp. Wait again, then backflip onto the wall and left to a stationary section. Continue left to a similar part and keep going left to a green arrow. Spin the arrow to change gravity, allowing you to walk on the back wall. Walk all the way right to the lamp, then onto the blue section. Wait for it to rise, reaching a pumpkin Goomba. Head left to the red switch, pound it to free a Luma, then go left and around the area's border. Fall into the cove where the Luma is, talk to it, and use its Launch Star.
- Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag. Walk up the incline, standing in the odd-shaped holes of the giant rolling spheres. A 1-Up is in the upper hole in the wall. Climb onto a rolling sphere near the ground cracks and ride it back left to get the Comet Medal. Head right to the grassy area, cross the retractable spikes, and do the same for the wall spikes above. Wall jump up, then jump from nail to nail to the top and right. Pound the red starburst and head right to a rotating platform with wall pieces. Wall jump when the circle stops, then stay level as it turns and wall jump to the top. The pipe at the back leads to a ? coin challenge.
- Head right over crates and stand on the rising back platform. Pound the red switch to alter the wall and release circular platforms. Jump onto one and ride it to the end, jumping to nails to reach the Star.
Secret Star #1: The Ledge Hammer Trap
- Collect 30 coins from enemies and mechanisms. Spin lit torches for 2 coins, and spin/stomp pumpkin Goombas for one coin each.
- Find the Hungry Luma on the 2nd grassy platform with a trampoline. Feed it 30 coins to access its Launch Star and hit the Checkpoint Flag.
- Fight against the pull of a thin rotating platform. Pass the first crusher, pound the ! switch to slow things down, and repeat for the next crusher. Reach the pipe on the far right.
- Fight against the rotating platform in the opposite direction, pausing between crushers to reach the Star on the far left.
Star #2: The Chimp's Score Challenge (Honeyhop Galaxy)
- A letter from the Chimp invites you to a game in World 4. Return to Honeyhop Galaxy and talk to the Chimp, agreeing to play.
- You have 2 minutes to earn at least 10,000 points by jumping on enemies consecutively. Use Sling Stars and flowers, stomping enemies in a row. Long jump left to a watery area, use a Sling Star, then a swing to reach an active area. Hit the ? coin for 1000 points. Large circles of Octoroks and platforms with Octoroks offer points. Avoid walking on water. If you fail, you lose a life; otherwise, you win the Star.
Walkthrough: Throwback Galaxy
- Head right on the grass and around the ramp to a Chance Cube and bonus portal. Climb the ramp with coins to the wall pusher, pass it, and cross moving platforms. Duck under a Thwomp, then climb to a second Thwomp with a 1-Up. Head left on disappearing platforms, follow a thin board to a rotating wooden platform.
- Go left to a Wiggler and climb a pole for a 1-Up. Drop off the ledge below and curve your drop to the platform below. Climb down the pole for the Comet Medal. Return to the upper level via a ramp. Spin 2 crates by a pink Bob-omb and follow musical notes for 3 1-Ups. Head left to a giant Piranha; bypass or defeat it by jumping on it after it slams. Jump platforms that rotate on a track. Jump to the Checkpoint Flag.
- Face a wall crusher; lure it to slam, then pound its back. Drop through the center hole to meet the Whomp King.
- Avoid the Whomp King's red shadow and jump when it slams to avoid being frozen by its vibration. Pound the cracked star on its back. Continue this pattern. After 3 hits, you win the Star.
Star #2: Silver Stars in the Whomp Fortress
- Head up the ramp ahead.
