Navigating the world of Solasta 2 is a blend of strategic movement in combat and free exploration during downtime. In combat, movement is dictated by your characters' Speed, typically measured in feet. Each character has a limited number of movement points per turn, which can be used to move to different squares on the grid-based battlefield. Certain terrain types, such as difficult terrain like mud or rubble, can cost extra movement points to traverse. Abilities like the Ranger's *Hunter's Mark* can indirectly influence movement by providing advantages against specific targets, encouraging focused engagement. Conversely, spells like *Misty Step* allow for instantaneous teleportation over short distances, bypassing obstacles and enemy positioning entirely, making it invaluable for reaching key vantage points or escaping a dangerous melee with a hulking Ogre.

Outside of combat, exploration is more freeform. You'll guide your party through various environments, from the dense foliage of the Whispering Woods to the treacherous ruins of the Sunken City. Interaction with the environment is key; you can examine objects, search for hidden passages, and interact with NPCs. Pay close attention to your surroundings. Hidden caches often contain rare treasures, such as a *Titanite Shard* found near a broken fountain in the abandoned village of Oakhaven, or an *Estus Shard* concealed behind an illusory wall in the Crypt of the Forgotten King. These shards can be vital for upgrading your healing resources.

Environmental hazards are also a significant part of exploration. Be wary of pressure plates that might trigger traps, unstable structures that could collapse, or magical wards that inflict status effects. The game often presents puzzles that require careful observation and interaction with the environment. For instance, activating a series of ancient runes in the correct order might unlock a secret door leading to a treasure chamber. Understanding your party's skills is paramount; a Rogue with high Perception might spot hidden traps or secret doors that others would miss, while a Wizard with the *Detect Magic* spell can reveal the presence and school of magic on nearby items or areas, potentially warning you of enchanted dangers or revealing hidden magical pathways.
