Learn how to create and manage Companion Slimes in Slime Rancher. Discover their jobs, behaviors, and how they can help you manage your ranch effectively.
Companion Slimes: Your New Ranch Hands!
So, you've been feeding your slimes their favorite foods, huh? Keep it up! After about 10 feedings (and be quick, that counter resets daily!), you'll have yourself a Companion Slime. These little guys are super helpful, but there are a few things to know.
Making a Companion Slime
Just feed any slime its favorite food 10 times. Remember, the count resets at the start of a new day, so you'll need to be consistent!
Important Notes for Companions
- Largo Slimes: If you're working with Largos, they won't eat plorts. This is actually a good thing – it means they won't accidentally turn into a Tarr!
- Slime Sea: If a Companion Slime falls into the slime sea, don't worry! They'll teleport back to your ranch instead of meeting a sad end.
- Plort Production: They produce plorts every 20 in-game minutes. Feeding them speeds this up, but the boost only lasts for two days.
- Self-Sufficiency: They'll even pick up their own plorts and sell them. Pretty neat, right?
Companion Jobs
Once tamed, your Companion Slimes can take on various jobs to help run your ranch. Here's a rundown of what they can do:
Slime Ranching Slime
This is your all-around ranch assistant. They'll collect and sell plorts, keep slimes in their corrals, feed slimes, collect chickens, and even gather food for gardens. They're also smart enough to keep Largo slimes separate from each other and away from incompatible plorts. Phosphor-type Ranching Slimes will only work in The Grotto during the day. They come equipped with an Implanted Vaccannon and Vacpack.
Rancher Guard
These slimes stick close to you, the rancher. If you wander too far or they fall into water, they'll teleport right back to your side. Think of them like your loyal pets in other games that follow you around. They'll even alert you to hostile slimes like Tarrs or feral slimes.
Watch out: All slimes, even with a Scareslime on duty, might still go after wild chickens or eat crops around your ranch.
