CHAPTER IV: THE KING

Follow this walkthrough for Ryse: Son of Rome's Chapter IV, 'The King.' Learn how to defeat Boudica, manage formations, and take down King Oswald's forces.

Alright, we're diving into Chapter IV: The King. This part's all about pushing through enemy territory and taking down some key figures. Let's get started!

First off, you'll be moving down a ravine. Just fight the Barbarians as usual – you know the drill by now. After that, you'll pass through a narrow area littered with bodies. Keep an eye out for the 'RS' prompt on screen; hitting it lets Marius comment on the grim scene, but it's not essential for progression.

As you reach the end of this passage, a trap will spring up. You'll see it highlighted in green. This is your cue to hit the A button to deflect and destroy it. Don't get caught by it!

Next, you'll fight your way through some woods. You'll hit a point where the river is impassable. Facing the water, look to your right, and you'll find a path leading further into the woods. Keep clearing out those barbarians until you find a log crossing the river. Head across it, and you'll soon reach the aqueduct.

Once you're at the aqueduct, you'll encounter a couple of lifts. To use them, just kick the weight off the platform. Keep pushing forward, fighting all the enemies. Be ready for a new enemy type that pops up here – they're fast and wield two weapons at once. Your best bet is to use your Focus ability and then just go to town on them. The same Focus strategy works wonders against the barbarian princess, Boudica, when you encounter her.

After you defeat Boudica, she'll call in her remaining men. Take them down, and a cutscene will play. When it's over, head to the flag and press A to get into formation. A group of barbarian archers will start raining arrows down on you. Hold down RT to ready your own projectiles, then let go to fire. Holding it long enough ensures your shots are super accurate. To advance safely, hold A to move behind your shields and push forward, which will prevent you from losing any soldiers.

After this push, you'll move through a cave. You'll still be in formation, and you'll run into a few individual archers. Deal with them from a distance. When the group splits up, take a right into a narrow cavern. This is a great spot to flank the archers who are harassing your squad.

Look for projectiles on the ground. Grab them and aim for the explosive barrels. Throwing these will take out a good chunk of the remaining barbarians. Then, when the Kinect voice command prompts you, yell "CHARGE!". Drop down and join your soldiers in the final push against King Oswald's men. Fight your way to his throne, and a final cutscene will wrap up this chapter.
