Enemy Types & Weaknesses

Learn the enemy types and specific weaknesses of creatures like the Molded and the Baker family in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Master combat on Madhouse Mode.

The Baker family isn't the only threat lurking in the shadows of the Dulvey Haunted House. You'll encounter several grotesque creatures, each with their own unique behaviors and vulnerabilities. Understanding these weaknesses is crucial for survival, especially on higher difficulties like Madhouse Mode.

Molded

The most common enemy type, the Molded are humanoid creatures composed of a black, viscous substance. They come in several variations, each requiring a slightly different approach.

Standard Molded

• Description: These are your basic, slow-moving Molded. They attack with their claws and can take a surprising amount of punishment if you don't aim properly.
• Weakness: The head is their primary weak point. A well-placed shot to the head with any firearm will stagger them, allowing for follow-up attacks or a quick escape.
• Strategy:
  • For single encounters, aim for headshots with your M19 Handgun or G17 Handgun. Two to three headshots usually suffice on Normal difficulty.
  • If you're conserving ammo, a few shotgun blasts to the torso with the M37 Shotgun can also be effective, especially if they're closing in.
  • When facing multiple Standard Molded, use environmental traps like trip mines (Remote Bombs) or lure them into narrow corridors for easier crowd control with the shotgun.
  • Consider using the Burner (found in the Main House, Laundry Room) for a quick stun and damage, especially if they are grouped together.

Four-Legged Molded

• Description: These agile Molded scuttle on all fours, making them harder to hit. They often lunge at you, dealing significant damage.
• Weakness: Their legs are surprisingly vulnerable, especially when they're preparing to lunge. Headshots are still effective but harder to land due to their erratic movement.
• Strategy:
  • Prioritize shooting their legs to cripple them and slow their movement. The M37 Shotgun is excellent for this, as its spread can hit multiple limbs.
  • Once they're on the ground, switch to a handgun for headshots to conserve shotgun shells.
  • If they lunge, try to block the attack to reduce damage, then immediately counter with a close-range shotgun blast.
  • The Grenade Launcher with Flame Rounds is highly effective against Four-Legged Molded, often killing them in one or two shots. Save these for tougher encounters.

Fat Molded (Fatmold)

• Description: These large, bloated Molded are slow but incredibly durable. They spit corrosive bile that blinds and damages Ethan, and explode upon death, releasing a hazardous cloud.
• Weakness: The large, pulsating sac on their chest is their critical weak point. Explosives are also highly effective.
• Strategy:
  • Maintain distance! Their bile attack has a decent range and can quickly drain your health.
  • Focus all fire on the chest sac. The M37 Shotgun or the MPM 5.56mm (Machine Gun) are ideal for quickly bursting this weak point.
  • Remote Bombs are incredibly effective, often killing a Fat Molded in one blast if placed correctly. Lure them towards a bomb and detonate.
  • The Grenade Launcher with Explosive Rounds or Flame Rounds will also make short work of them.
  • After defeating a Fat Molded, immediately back away to avoid the corrosive cloud. If you get caught, use a First Aid Med or Strong First Aid Med to recover.

Infected Insects (Swarm)

These are not individual enemies but rather swarms of flying insects that can quickly overwhelm Ethan if not dealt with. They are often found in specific areas, particularly in the Old House.

• Description: Small, fast-moving insects that attack in a group, inflicting minor but continuous damage. They can obscure your vision.
• Weakness: Fire is their ultimate weakness. They are highly susceptible to the Burner.
• Strategy:
  • The Burner is your best friend against these swarms. A short burst of flame will disperse and often destroy them.
  • If you don't have the Burner, a few quick slashes with the Survival Knife can also clear them, but this puts you at risk.
  • Avoid using firearms unless absolutely necessary, as it's a waste of precious ammo.
  • In the Old House, Mia will sometimes assist you by using a lantern to ward off insects. Pay attention to these environmental cues.

Marguerite Baker (Boss)

Marguerite transforms into a monstrous insectoid creature, making her a formidable foe. You'll face her in two distinct phases.

Marguerite (Old House - First Encounter)

• Description: In her initial transformed state, Marguerite is agile and can climb walls. She summons swarms of insects and attacks with her elongated limbs.
• Weakness: Her abdomen, which glows yellow, is her primary weak point. Fire also causes her to recoil.
• Strategy:
  • Use the M37 Shotgun against her when she's on the ground or climbing. Aim for her abdomen.
  • The Burner is excellent for forcing her to retreat and dealing continuous damage, especially when she's clinging to walls.
  • When she summons insects, quickly switch to the Burner to clear them before refocusing on Marguerite.
  • use the environment. There are often explosive barrels or gas canisters that can be shot when she's near them for extra damage.
  • Conserve your Grenade Launcher rounds for the second phase if possible, but don't hesitate to use a Flame Round if you're in a pinch.

Marguerite (Greenhouse - Second Encounter)

• Description: This is her fully mutated form, a massive, grotesque creature that can traverse the entire greenhouse. She's faster, more aggressive, and her attacks hit harder.
• Weakness: Her large, pulsating abdomen remains her critical weak point. Explosives and high-damage weapons are key.
• Strategy:
  • This is where your heavy ordnance shines. Unleash Explosive Rounds and Flame Rounds from the Grenade Launcher directly onto her abdomen.
  • The M37 Shotgun is still effective at close range, but be wary of her powerful lunges and sweeps.
  • The MPM 5.56mm (Machine Gun), if you have it, can pour a lot of damage into her weak point quickly.
  • Keep moving and use the multi-level structure of the greenhouse to your advantage. Try to get above her to get clear shots at her abdomen.
  • When she climbs to the ceiling, she's often preparing a powerful attack. Use this opportunity to land critical hits with your most powerful weapons.
  • Be prepared to use First Aid Meds and Strong First Aid Meds frequently, as her attacks are devastating.
