Library Chase

Survive the university library chase in Quantum Break. This guide helps you evade Monarch forces and use time powers to escape the chaotic environment.

Following your narrow escape from the campus, you'll find yourself in the university library, still pursued by Monarch Solutions. This section focuses on navigating the library's chaotic environment and utilizing your newfound time powers to evade and neutralize threats.

Initial Library Encounter

• Objective: Escape the Library
• As soon as you enter, take cover behind the large central desk. Monarch operatives will immediately engage.
• Strategy: Use your Time Stop (RB/R1) ability to freeze groups of enemies, then follow up with a Time Blast (LB/L1) for maximum impact. Prioritize enemies on higher levels who have clear sightlines.
• Collectibles:
  • Chronon Source: Look for a glowing blue orb on the left side of the main library floor, near a bookshelf.
  • Quantum Ripple: After clearing the initial wave, head to the far right side of the main floor. You'll find a laptop on a table that triggers a Quantum Ripple.
• Proceed through the door on the far side of the main floor, leading to a narrower corridor lined with bookshelves.

Upper Levels and Ambush

• Objective: Reach the Exit
• As you move through the corridor, be prepared for an ambush. Several Monarch operatives will drop down from the upper levels.
• Strategy: This is an excellent opportunity to practice your Time Dodge (B/Circle) and Time Rush (Left Stick Click) abilities. Dodge behind bookshelves for cover, then use Time Rush to flank enemies.
• Weapon Upgrade: Keep an eye out for a Carbine Rifle (M4) on one of the overturned tables in this section. It offers better range and accuracy than your starting pistol.
• Ascend the stairs to the upper level. More enemies will be positioned here, often behind cover.
• Collectibles:
  • Chronon Source: On the upper level, near the railing overlooking the main floor, you'll find another Chronon Source.
  • Intel: A tablet containing Monarch Intel is located on a small table in a reading nook on the upper floor, near the back wall.

The Collapsing Section

• Objective: Navigate the Time Anomaly
• You'll encounter a section of the library caught in a time anomaly, with bookshelves and debris constantly shifting.
• Strategy: This area requires precise timing. Use Time Vision (Y/Triangle) to highlight safe paths and enemy positions. You'll need to use Time Stop on specific collapsing structures to create temporary platforms or clear pathways.
• Enemies: Expect a few armored Monarch Enforcers in this area. Their heavy armor makes them resistant to direct Time Blasts. Focus on headshots or use Time Stop to expose their weak points before unleashing a barrage of bullets.
• Pathfinding: Look for a section where a large bookshelf is repeatedly falling. Use Time Stop as it's falling to freeze it mid-air, allowing you to cross underneath or over it.
• Once past the anomaly, you'll reach a door leading out of the library.

Final Library Dash

• Objective: Escape to the Exterior
• The final stretch involves a short, intense sprint through a corridor with a few remaining Monarch guards.
• Strategy: Don't hesitate to use all your time powers here. A well-placed Time Blast can clear multiple enemies quickly. If your health is low, use Time Shield (X/Square) to absorb incoming fire while you regenerate.
• Health Pack: A small health pack can be found on a cart near the exit door, if needed.
• Interact with the exit door to conclude the Library Chase and move to the next section of Act 1.
