The Atlas of Worlds: Your First Steps

Upon completing the main campaign, your primary objective will be to unlock and progress through the Atlas of Worlds. This sprawling network of interconnected maps offers escalating difficulty and increasingly valuable loot. Your first interaction with the Atlas will be in your personal Hideout, where Kirac, the Master Cartographer, will introduce you to its mechanics.

• Acquiring Maps: Maps drop from monsters in the campaign's final acts and from other maps. Start with lower-tier maps (Tier 1-3) like the Strand Map or Dunes Map.
• Map Device: Use the Map Device in your Hideout to activate maps. Place a map in the device and click "Activate" to open portals to the map's instance.
• Atlas Progression: Completing a map for the first time will reveal adjacent maps on the Atlas. Your goal is to clear as many unique maps as possible to unlock higher tiers and valuable Atlas Passive Tree points.
• Atlas Passives: As you complete bonus objectives on maps (e.g., completing a rare map, completing a corrupted map), you'll earn points for the Atlas Passive Tree. These passives significantly enhance your endgame experience, allowing you to specialize in certain league mechanics, increase map drops, or boost specific rewards. Prioritize nodes that increase map drops initially, such as "Singular Focus" or "Stream of Consciousness."

Currency Management and Crafting Essentials

The endgame demands a sophisticated understanding of Path of Exile 2's intricate currency system. Efficiently managing and using your currency is paramount for character progression.

Essential Currencies to Hoard:

• Chaos Orb: The backbone of the PoE2 economy. Used for rerolling rare item modifiers, trading with other players, and crafting.
• Exalted Orb: Adds a new random modifier to a rare item. Extremely valuable for high-end crafting.
• Orb of Alchemy: Upgrades a normal item to a rare item. Crucial for making maps rare to increase their difficulty and rewards.
• Orb of Scouring: Removes all modifiers from an item, turning it into a normal item. Useful for resetting crafting bases.
• Vaal Orb: Corrupts an item, potentially adding powerful implicit modifiers, bricking it, or changing its properties entirely. Use with caution on valuable items.
• Cartographer's Chisel: Improves the quality of a map, increasing its item quantity bonus. Always chisel your maps before making them rare!

Basic Crafting Loop for Maps:

1. Chisel: Use 4x Cartographer's Chisel on a normal map to bring it to 20% quality.
2. Alchemy: Use 1x Orb of Alchemy on the 20% quality map to make it rare.
3. Chaos/Scour (Optional): If the rare map has undesirable modifiers (e.g., "Players cannot regenerate Life/Mana," "Elemental Reflect"), use Orb of Scouring to revert it to normal, then re-chisel and re-alchemy. Alternatively, use Chaos Orbs to reroll the rare modifiers directly.
4. Vaal (Optional): For high-tier maps or specific strategies, consider using a Vaal Orb on a rare map. This can increase rewards but also carries the risk of bricking the map or adding detrimental modifiers.

Conquering Endgame Bosses: The Elder and The Shaper

Beyond the standard map progression, the Atlas introduces powerful endgame bosses that drop unique and highly sought-after items. Your initial encounters will likely be with The Elder and The Shaper.

The Elder:

The Elder's influence spreads across your Atlas as you complete maps. To fight him, you must spread his influence to specific "Guardian" maps (e.g., Enslaver's Lair, Purifier's Domain). Defeating these guardians will drop fragments that, when combined in your Map Device, open portals to The Elder's realm.

• Strategy: The Elder fight involves multiple phases and adds. Focus on dodging his slam attacks and managing the adds he summons. His tentacle attacks can be devastating if not avoided.
• Key Drops: Watchstone Shards (used to upgrade your Atlas), Elder Orb (allows you to elevate a map to Tier 16), and various unique items like the Shimmeron wand or Elder's Helmet.

The Shaper:

Similar to The Elder, The Shaper's influence appears on your Atlas. Defeating his four guardians (e.g., Forge of the Phoenix, Lair of the Hydra) will yield fragments that grant access to his domain.

• Strategy: The Shaper fight is a multi-phase encounter with intricate mechanics. Pay close attention to his beam attacks, bullet hell phases, and the "Vortex" debuff. Positioning is crucial.
• Key Drops: Shaper Orb (used to elevate a map to Tier 16), Starforge two-handed sword, Dying Sun unique flask, and various other Shaper-influenced items.

Delving into the Azurite Mine: Endless Depths

The Azurite Mine, accessible via Niko in your Hideout, offers an infinite dungeon crawling experience. As you delve deeper, the darkness becomes more oppressive, and the rewards become more lucrative.

• Sulphite Collection: To power your crawler and explore the mine, you need Sulphite. This resource is found in maps, often in areas guarded by Niko's mining equipment. Prioritize collecting Sulphite whenever you see it.
• Crawler Navigation: Guide your crawler through the darkness, destroying obstacles and collecting Azurite. Stay within the crawler's light radius to avoid taking massive damage from the darkness.
• Azurite Upgrades: Use collected Azurite to upgrade your crawler's light radius, darkness resistance, flare capacity, and dynamite capacity. These upgrades are essential for deeper delves.
• Subterranean Areas: Look for hidden paths and destructible walls that lead to valuable side areas containing unique chests, fossils, and resonators.
