Walkthrough
  1. 1
Descend the stairs and go through the door.
  2. 2
Head right, jumping over sand rivers and using 3-D mode (a visual mode that reveals hidden paths and objects) to bypass fire wheels.
  3. 3
Jump onto an item block, then jump right.
  4. 4
Descend a ladder to find a Life Shroom.
  5. 5
Return to the item block and enter the door to the right.
  6. 6
Again, use 3-D mode to bypass flame wheels.
  7. 7
Proceed to the end of the hall and switch to 3-D mode to reveal bricks. Jump up and hit these bricks.
  8. 8
Switch back to 2-D mode and enter the door.
  9. 9
Use 3-D mode to bypass Tromps, then climb the ladder and open the chest.
  10. 10
    Return through the door.
  11. 11
Use the key to open the locked door you passed earlier.
  12. 12
    Hit the save block.
  13. 13
Continue right, bypassing item blocks that are not worth the effort.
  14. 14
Use 3-D mode to bypass Tromps again, then while still in 3-D mode, jump on an item brick to reach the door.
  15. 15
    Fall down to the right.
  16. 16
Grab an enemy and throw it into the switch. If you are close to leveling up, infinite enemies are available in this room.
  17. 17
Climb back up the ladder and go through the door.
  18. 18
Return to the area with the sand pit and coin bricks to find a key.
  19. 19
Jump up and use Thoreau to grab the key.
  20. 20
Go back to the right and unlock the door.
  21. 21
Descend the stairs and use Tippi (a partner ability) to reveal a ledge under the door. Enter by jumping off one of the stairs.
  22. 22
Walk right into what appears to be a dead end. Flip into 3-D mode to find a path to the right.
  23. 23
Follow this path and open the chest for a Buzzy Beetle card.
  24. 24
    Follow the path back.
  25. 25
Go left and flip into 3-D mode underneath the key to reveal a passage in the wall where the key is located.
  26. 26
Go back and unlock the door.
  27. 27
Use the spring and continue to the left.
  28. 28
Flip into 3-D mode and climb the ladder.
  29. 29
Jump on the blue ! block and be ready to run to the left.
  30. 30
Go back and press the red button.
  31. 31
Fall down the hole and enter the door.
  32. 32
Enter 3-D mode to reveal the order to hit the blocks (1, 2, 3, 4).
  33. 33
Go up the stairs, save, and grab the Super Shroom from the item block.
  34. 34
    Enter the pipe.
  35. 35
Pay close attention to the conversation that follows.
  36. 36
    Prepare for the boss fight.

Boss Fight: Fracktail

HP: 18

Attack: 1

Defense: 0

The Fracktail fight is easy yet complex. Its antenna is its weak point, but it cannot be hit directly. When Fracktail charges from the background, dodge by running left or right. When it charges from the right, flip into 3-D mode, dodge its head, then jump on its tail. You will then be on its back. Use Thoreau to grab the enemies that spawn and throw them at Fracktail's antenna. Fracktail will eventually throw you off. Repeat this process.

After the boss fight, enter the door and go down the stairs.

Tips
  • Use 3-D mode frequently to reveal hidden paths, objects, and bypass obstacles like fire wheels and tromps.
  • The room before the key with the sand pit has infinite enemies if you need to level up before the boss.
  • The Buzzy Beetle card is found in a chest after revealing a hidden path to the right using 3-D mode.
  • The boss fight requires precise dodging and using Thoreau to throw spawned enemies at Fracktail's antenna.
  • Pay attention to the dialogue during the boss encounter for humorous moments and references.
