Temperature Management: Utilize the temperature overlay to identify hot and cold spots. Keep living quarters temperate and away from heat sources. Ensure greenhouses maintain optimal temperatures for plant growth (e.g., Meal lice, Bristle blossom), as even a 1°C deviation can halt growth. Be aware that dupes cannot work in extreme heat and may get scalded.

Material Properties: Different materials have unique thermal properties and decor bonuses. Granite and sandstone offer decor bonuses, suitable for sculptures, paintings, and tiles. Igneous rock is non-thermally reactive, ideal for greenhouses. Abyssalite is even better but scarce. Keep heat-generating structures like power generators away from greenhouses.

Food Production: Start with Mealwood for early game (Meal lice), but note its low quality and non-renewable dirt requirement. Transition to Bristle Berries (from Bristle Blossom plants) for better quality and calories, requiring water and light. Mushrooms, when fried, offer good calories and quality.

Food Preservation: To prevent food spoilage, ensure greenhouses are filled with carbon dioxide, as germs need oxygen to survive. Storing food in ration boxes within an ice biome or immersed in CO2 further reduces decay.

Dupe Management: Limit your dupe count (ideally 3-6) to avoid resource strain. Build rooms like barracks (for stamina and morale) and latrines (to relieve stress). Keep rooms clean by sweeping debris, which negatively impacts decor and stresses dupes.

Power Generation: Initially rely on hamster wheels. Avoid immediate reliance on coal generators as coal is non-renewable. Research and utilize the Rock Granulator to produce refined metal for smart batteries and automation wire.

Advanced Power: Be mindful of Heavi-Watt wires, which can negatively impact decor. Use Conductive Heavi-Watt wire or regular conductive wire, potentially made from gold for reduced decor penalty, and route them strategically to avoid decor penalties.
