The Halberd is a powerful weapon in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, unlockable after completing any path once and accessible in New Game Plus. It's considered an 'OP' weapon due to its ease of use, simple setups, and effectiveness in all combat scenarios, including duels and large armies.

To unlock the Halberd, it's recommended to first acquire the rank 8 sword. If you struggle to defeat Lu Bu at Hulao Gate on Ultimate Difficulty, purchasing the cheapest Halberd will add it to the game's weapon drop pool.

Combos

1. Defiant Shockstorm (or Block + Strong) to launch: N3 + S spam until finish.
2. Defiant Shockstorm to launch (with extra Fortitude damage): N3 + S spam before the jumping last hit, cancel into Sky Blaze for approximately 7 Fortitude damage.
3. Launch with Block + Strong (hold): A charge attack that takes time and is best used after a parry or counter when low on bravery.
4. Nx5 then spam Strong: After combo 1, chain into Valiant Steed Blitz (VSB) for 10 Fortitude damage. Dance of Demons can be used if VSB is not yet unlocked.

Most Useful Battle Arts

• Defiant Shockstorm: Essential combo starter, purchase in New Game Plus.
• Sky Blaze: For additional Fortitude damage follow-ups.
• Dance of Demons and Valiant Steed Blitz: Powerful damage finishers.
• Sky Crusher: A good option before unlocking finishers.

Note on VSB: Be cautious with Valiant Steed Blitz as you can be dismounted by enemy attacks. Using the Shadow Runner horse can help avoid this. It's also unsafe near large groups of officers due to potential damage taken while mounting.

Unlocking Max Bond Battle Art: Valiant Steed Blitz

Max Bond with Lu Bu by defeating him at Hulao Gate on any difficulty. This can be done during your first playthrough but is not required. In your second playthrough, select the Battle at Hulao Gate, defeat Lu Bu, and proceed to Chapter 3. Max his bond before the end of Chapter 3, either by completing his training or paying money at Shui Jing’s house.

Ranking

Duels: S

Easy and damaging combos, strong attacks that stagger enemies. Block + Nx5 + Strong spam is effective.

Weapon Damage: S

Easy air combo setups, powerful battle arts, and the ability to stun enemies even after they recover. The weapon is slightly slow and uses bravery to initiate combos.

Fortitude Damage: A+, S with Disc of Huanglong

Low bravery cost combos deal good Fortitude damage. Using Disc of Huanglong reduces the bravery cost of Defiant Shockstorm and Sky Blaze, significantly enhancing Fortitude damage by allowing more Battle Art links.

Vs Large Army and Officers: S

Excellent escape tools and strong burst damage with VSB and Musou rage mode. However, it's a slow weapon that may require retreating to recharge energy after exhausting resources.
