So, you're looking to recruit Samara, the Asari Justicar? She's a fascinating character, nearly a thousand years old and bound by a strict code. You'll find her on Illium, hunting her daughter Morinth. Samara's past is pretty intense. She used to run with a mercenary gang, but had a change of heart when she discovered they were trafficking slaves. She freed them, gave them what resources she could, and then left. After that, she settled down and had three daughters, but discovered they were all Ardat-Yakshi, a condition that makes them dangerous to their partners. Two of her daughters, Falere and Rila, chose isolation, but her third, Morinth, became a killer. Samara then swore herself to the Code and became a Justicar to hunt Morinth across the galaxy. She even had a run-in with Nihlus Kryik once, which is a story in itself. When you first encounter Samara on Illium, she's just finished dealing with some Eclipse mercenaries who helped Morinth escape. She's about to be taken into custody by Detective Anaya, but she'll ask for your help. She needs to find out which ship Morinth is on before she's forced to escape custody by her own Code. If you help her find the ship (the AML Demeter), she'll swear an oath to serve you and fight the Collectors, binding her choices and morals to yours. Just be aware, if Shepard has a history of ruthless actions, Samara might have some reservations.
