Navigate the main story of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PC Port with our comprehensive guide. Learn about mission structure, collectibles, and how to replay missions in Free Play.
The main thread of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PC Port is its series of Story Missions. You'll be immediately tossed into the first mission upon starting the game. You will proceed through a specific area, beating up bad guys, breaking down bricks, and being bodacious. Once the mission ends, you'll be tallied on all that you've collected, and then be brought to a part of the main hub area.
Having completed a mission, you can return to it any time in Free Play by pressing Back to access the Map, and then pressing RB to move from the Map over to "Levels". Select the mission and you'll be given your current progress in all the Collectibles. You can then select "Story" to return to the mission with the same cast you had before, or you can select "Free Play", which allows you to pick whichever character you want, will give you several others to use, and you can even access the full list of characters by holding down Y to select them.
As to Collectibles, there are basically four types in Story Missions:
- True Believer - This is not so much a thing as it is a target. Collect studs and watch the black bar at the top of the screen fill with yellow. Once it's completely full, you'll earn True Believer status and a Gold Brick.
- Minikit - There are ten Minikit Canisters in every Story Mission, and they're typically hidden pretty well. They may require certain powers and abilities, they may require you to think out of the box, or they may just require you to do a little exploration or poke behind an obscuring part of the scenery. Once you get all ten, you'll make a cute little LEGO comic that you can view in the Avengers Mansion.
- Stan Lee In Peril - Poor Stan Lee, face of Marvel Comics, cannot keep himself out of trouble. Much like Minikit Canisters, Stan might be obscured somewhere in the mission. More than likely, you'll hear him calling out and requesting your help. Do your best to free him from his peril and you'll get a Gold Brick for credit. Much like the Minikit, you might not be able to do so during the Story.
- Character Card - Also known as a Character Token. There is one of these hidden in every Story Mission and they're basically hidden much like a Minikit Canister. Find it and another character will be added to your stable. Note that this character will not be completely ready for use. It will be blacked out in the list instead of a question mark, meaning you'll still have to use studs you've collected to buy it.
Also, while in Free Play, there's no need to actually finish the mission. At any time you can pause, Quit to Chronopolis, and Save and Exit. Useful if you've found that last thing you were looking for and don't want to drudge all the way to the end.
