Follow our detailed walkthrough for Chapter 15: Broken Promises in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, including strategies for defeating Grand Unifier Raker and his Unifier minions.
This chapter will begin immediately where the last one left off. Listen to Ko-Rel and you will be able to look around with the right analog stick. You essentially need to look at Nikki and her right hand will begin to glow. You'll be in another dream sequence. That is, it's the same one you saw before. Follow Nikki out and try to snap her out of it. It won't work. Just as before, examine the cake, grab the present, fix the projector. Open the door to talk to Ko-Rel. Watch the scenes. Now you must "destroy the lie".
Head back in and talk to Nikki. Smash the cake and present and destroy the projector. Talk to Nikki and choose whatever options to bring her back.
Nikki will emerge with a very new look and you will need to battle 3 Unifiers. The problem here is that they're shielded and they heal each other. Some are weak against Wind and others Lightning. As always, focus on just one, build the stagger and use Gamora and Peter to finish them off. If the team is in distress, use arena traps and team attacks to interrupt the Unifiers. Once they're dead, you will enter a Boss Fight.
BOSS FIGHT: Grand Unifier Raker
The strategy here isn't that complicated. Like the other Unifiers, he has a shield. Shoot away at this and use the arena traps to bring it down.
Note: There's plenty of mines around the edge of the arena, so keep them armed at all times. Also, Drax can toss objects at Raker, so save these for when the shield goes down.
Once the shield is down, Raker will drop to the ground. This is when you want to unleash your heaviest attacks and have Drax use the objects he can throw. This process will repeat itself until Raker is dead.
Raker will attack you with several different types of skills:
- If you're close, he will unleash his version of a melee attack by swinging a golden staff/spear-like weapon.
- He will also shoot several projectiles upward that very quickly rain down and explode. Similar to Foom's attack, they cover a wide area of the arena but they fall and explode much quicker. Obviously you can dodge these, but you can also jump/dash/glide to remain in the air to avoid the explosion.
- Similar to some other enemies, he also deploys columns of yellow Electric Energy that will shoot forward in waves on either side of him. You can either stand in between the 2 waves, or dodge them last minute to go through them.
- He also has the ability to surround you with a shield. This one you can simply jump out of.
- Sometimes Raker will generate a golden shield in front of him. When he does this, he will perform a flying dash towards you. Just dodge out of the way to the left or right.
- He can also stun the team and hold them in place. If this happens, just shoot the small drone above them to free them from stasis.
Lastly, when Raker's taken enough damage, there's 2 different environmental distorting moves he will do.
- The first just sort of blurs the screen. It looks a bit like you're underwater and is fuzzy, hard to see well. However, it's no big deal and doesn't last for too long.
- The second, Raker basically turns the lights off and turns the whole place dark. This too will pass in time, but you can't lock on to Raker and with an real distance between you, you can barely see him. I recommend that you hang out around an armed mine and take some manual shots as he flies by in view. If he gets too close to you, the mine is there for protection.
Keep this up until he falls.
Tip: Raker does heavy damage with his attacks. Don't forget to use Groot's healing, or the Team Huddle move to restore health and get some buffs.
After the scenes, Warlock will be free, the Magus will retreat and the Guardians will walk proud (hold the analog stick down) while celebrating saving the galaxy. After speaking to Cosmo, Lady Hellbender & the Worldmind, the team will be back on the ship while the credits roll... Watch the scenes. Chapter 15 will be concluded.
