Discover the events of Kingdom Hearts: (Re:)Coded and how they lead into Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Learn about Data-Sora and the journal bugs!
So, after all the craziness in Kingdom Hearts II, Jiminy Cricket is going through his journals and finds something weird in the one for Kingdom Hearts I. There's a line that wasn't there before, and when King Mickey decodes it, he finds the journal is full of bugs! To fix it, they send in Data-Sora to dive into the worlds and sort things out. As Data-Sora goes through, they uncover some strange details about Riku and other bits and pieces from their past adventures.
Honestly, this whole storyline doesn't have a huge main point on its own. The big reveal at the end is that King Mickey sends an urgent message to Sora, just like he did at the end of KHII. What's it about? Well, in a secret video, we find out King Mickey discovered the hearts of Ventus and Aqua (from Birth by Sleep) have been found, and only Terra's is missing. Plus, since Xehanort's Heartless and Nobody forms are gone, Xehanort himself might be making a comeback!
Because of all this, King Mickey decides it's time to test Sora and Riku to see if they're truly worthy Keyblade Masters. And that, my friend, is how we get to Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
