Alright, so you're wondering about Glyphs in Hell is Us? They're pretty key to customizing your loadout. To get them equipped, you've got a couple of main goals: first, you need to unlock the Smithy feature, and second, you'll need to upgrade one of your weapons to Grade 2. Don't worry, it's not too far into the game.

First things first, let's get that Smithy unlocked. You'll need to head over to the Acasa Marshes. This area opens up after you finish the initial tutorial mission in Senedra Forest. Once you're in the Acasa Marshes, make your way to the northeastern part of the map. Keep an eye out for a red tunnel – go inside and clear out any enemies lurking there. Inside this tunnel, you'll find a guy named Victor, who's currently barricaded in a maintenance room. Chat with him; he'll give you some main story objectives to pursue.

After that little chat, you'll need to progress the story a bit further. Head to Vitalis' basement. Just entering it should be enough to trigger Victor reopening the Smithy. Once that's done, you can head back outside and talk to Victor again. He'll be ready to help you with Vitalis-related business and all your smithing needs.

Now that the smithy is unlocked and ready to go, it's time to upgrade a weapon to Grade 2. This is where you'll use some Lymbic Shards – thankfully, you should have collected enough by this point. When you go to upgrade, you'll see options like Rage, Grief, Terror, and Ecstasy. Choosing one of these will change your weapon's appearance and, crucially, allow you to equip matching emotional Glyphs. Keep in mind that Neutral Glyphs are more flexible and can be equipped on any Grade 2 weapon, no matter its emotional alignment. So, you can't slap a Rage glyph onto a Terror weapon, for instance.

Once you've made your upgrade choice and the weapon is at Grade 2, open up your terminal. Navigate to your weapon tab, and then press the button to bring up the glyphs menu for that specific weapon. From there, you can slot in either an appropriate emotional glyph or a neutral one. Easy peasy.

The good news is that as you keep playing, you'll snag more base weapons. Some even come pre-equipped with higher grades and emotions, like the Greatsword of Rage you can find later in Lake Cynon. This means you'll have plenty of opportunities to experiment with different weapon and glyph combinations as you get further into the game.
