Follow this detailed walkthrough for Half-Life: Blue Shift's 'Living Quarters Outbound' section, covering the tram ride, security procedures, and initial armory access.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Riding the Tram: Begin by enjoying the initial tram ride. You'll see sights of Black Mesa and a glimpse of Gordon Freeman at the end.
  2. 2
Getting in the Door: After the tram stops, exit and approach the nearby door. A security guard will open it for you. Proceed through the next set of doors.
  3. 3
Getting Ready for Duty: Go down the stairs and through the doors to the front desk. Speak to the guard, then head to the locker room. Collect your security armor from your locker (second section), bringing your armor rating to 100.
  4. 4
Exploring the Locker Room: You can open your locker to see its contents, though nothing is collectible. In the adjacent bathroom, look into the next stall from the left one to see a picture of a 'horrid-head' creature on the door.
  5. 5
Returning to the Front Desk: Go back to the front desk and speak to the guard again. Listen to the scientist complaining about access near the window.
  6. 6
Elevator to Surveillance and Armory: Proceed down the hallway to find an elevator. Use the panel to ride to the floor with the armory and video surveillance.
  7. 7
Video Surveillance Room: Follow the green stripe to the surveillance room. Use the large black panel to the right of the door to open it. Inside, you can view the three large screens for different perspectives, including Gordon Freeman.
  8. 8
Armory Access: Exit the surveillance room and follow the blue stripe to the armory. Use the panel to the left of the door to open it. Descend the steps and receive a pistol from the guard behind the window.
  9. 9
Practice Range: Go to the practice range area. You can find spare ammo clips in the booths. You can also crouch-jump into the target area and interact with a shooting guard.
  10. 10
Opening Your Locker (Optional): Return to the armory door, use the panel to the right to open it, and take the elevator back to the locker room floor. Quicksave. Shoot open the small package at the bottom of your locker with all your bullets to find a 'chumtoad'. This is a waste of ammo; quickrestore afterward.
  11. 11
Exiting Security: Go back through the doors and up the stairs to where you started this section. Approach the locked doors with the guard in the booth. The guard will open them once they see your armor and pistol.
  12. 12
Maintenance Area Detour: Proceed through the maintenance area until you reach a room with scientists and a guard at a computer. Continue until you reach the tram station. You'll be informed that trams to Sector G are down and must proceed on foot.
  13. 13
Finding the Maintenance Ladder: Go left around the vending machines to find a 'Maintenance Access' ladder. Climb down and proceed along the walkway, through a door, and down some stairs to another door. Push the barrel aside to access the next area.
Tips
  • The initial tram ride is a good opportunity to observe the environment and lore.
  • Don't waste ammo trying to open the package in your locker unless you want to see the chumtoad; quickrestore immediately after.
  • Pay attention to the colored wall stripes (green for surveillance, blue for armory) to navigate efficiently.
